So the '02 Class finishes with final rankings of 1, 4, 19, 4/5?
ohio state (2002, 2003, 2004, 2005; ap poll)
1, 4, 20, currently at 7 = 32
texas
6, 12, 5, currently at 2 = 25
miami
2, 5, 11, currently at 10 = 28
georgia
3, 7, 7, currently at 13 = 30
so...
miami needs to finish at least 8 places behind ohio state in the ap poll and georgia needs to finish at least 9 places behind ohio state in the ap poll for ohio state to be the third best team of the last four years, according to the ap poll. i find no other teams that are competing with ohio state for being ranked third. texas will surely not drop far enough for ohio to be propelled to second. when ohio state wins their bcs bowl game, the team will move up, making it much more likely that ohio state will at least jump into fourth, if not third, instead of remaining as the fifth highest rated team of the last four years.
edit: it should be noted that, of course, ohio state may end being the only team among the four to have won a national championship in the last four seasons. i know that's a "duh" statement; however, that title should merit a bonus point, vaulting us to the ranking as the second best team of the last four years.
