High School 2005 Big 33 Game

Any word on who the MVP was? Radio broadcast didn't say.
Schoenhoft for Ohio, very well deserved. Didn't catch the name for Pennsylvania.

Some final thoughts, Schoenhoft and Hartline really stood out on the offensive side of the ball, and Andre Amos was in on a ton of pass breakups in the secondary, he really looked good.

Also, Bryan Williams, who is going to Pitt, had a big game in the Ohio secondary. The entire Ohio secondary pretty much shut down Penn's passing game. Ohio's run defense on the other hand was pretty terrible, I'll attribute that to them possibly not being in very good shape and Penn's size advantage.

I think it's a little early to compare Lawrence Wilson with Will Smith. How about we let him play a game first?
they weren't comparing him to Smith. They were saying even the great will smith had a personal foul every once in a while, so this alleged foul on Wilson isn't the end of the world.

The all-time series is now tied 9-9. FYI, Penn held an edge before the Ohio-PA matchup was resumed in the 90's.

Saturday night's game will mark the 18th meeting between Ohio and Pennsylvania, with Pennsylvania holding a 9-8 lead.
Regarding that late flag and long delay, here's a relevant tidbit from other Big-33 coverage:

"The game's key rules encourage big plays. Defenses must play a straight-up 5-2 at all times and zone coverage is illegal."

Big 33 Impressions

Amos : He's a CB. Period. With he and Jenkins, we have 2 very good CBs for 4 years. Great game, again.

Hartline : Love him at WR. Long and fluid with good hands and deceptive speed. Looked great.

Schoenhoft : Usual howitzer arm strength, but more accurate than I expected. Fade throws need work, needs to find outlet receiver when pressured. Tonight played VERY well....not as big a project as some make him out to be. I'm happy he's ours.

Wilson : He's going to be VERY good for us, and I think he'll start for the Bucks for 3 years. Needs a little more weight at DE, which is where I want him. Solid game tonight.

Robiskie : Looks good. Didn't get a chance to show any receiving skills tonight.

Spitler : Good looking MLB, very active, but not sure about his impact at OSU. Always in the vicinity of the ball, but often downfield. May have been the product of the propensity of PA to pass after early deficit.

Denlinger : Didn't make an impact tonight. Watched him closely, and he seemed a step slow in pursuit. Didn't see him blow up the big PA line much at the point of attack. Of course, Byrd was even more non-existent in his point of attack impact, and I loved his inside strength at Colerain.

Overall, I think JT once again has done a great job selecting the Ohio talent for the Bucks. Initially, I wanted Byrd, Brian Jones, and Javon Ringer. While all 3 are talented kids, I like who JT selected much better.

MM is a talent, but he's a sCummer to the core. I like our chances against him and Lloyd's new kicker for the next 4.

Go Bucks!

I agree with you on pretty much every point. After watching the game I am extremely excited about Schoenhoft and Hartline. Amos definately looks like a solid DB prospect as well.

Also noticed Denlinger dogging it on a few pass rushes, hopefully he is just a bit out of shape.

Finally, on one of the long pass plays (the HB pass I'm pretty sure) MM was just standing on the other side of the field watching, just standing there... definately a scUMmer.

Sounds like this is the second all star game Mesko didnt look great in. I didn't see this one but all his punts in the Army game were line drives...I thought he was supposed to average a 5 second hang time :slappy:at least thats what all the scUM fans were saying

i was impressed with amos at conerback its hard to play man to man every play and he was blanketing their recievers all night.

schoenhoff was better then i expected. he needs to look off the first reciever more tends to lock on to the #1 guy to much. could be a good one in a couple of years

hartline looks like a great reciever.
