2007 Preseason and Regular season Polls

Thanks for cleaning that up BB73.

Well with Coaches out and LSU number 2 it would take a major shift in the larger Harris Interactive Poll to put anyone but LSU into the 2 slot for the BCS Championship game.

How can #7 LSU, who was only eight poll points ahead of #8 Oklahoma (1,134 to 1,126) in the coaches poll stay ahead of them when LSU barely beat #15 Tennessee and Oklahoma destroyed #2 Missouri?

Exactly my thought? It's a beauty contest and the human equation wants an SEC team in the game no matter what. Perception becomes reality.

Georgia was good enough to be ahead of LSU before...but not now?
VT#6 beat BC #11 isn't that better than #7 LSU beating #14 Tn?

If the people want to see just an SEC team play USC every year why not just create a Bowl game for that?
We could call it the Peoples Popularity Bowl. (kind of has a nice little fascist ring doesn't it?) :tongue2:

From last week:

Meanwhile, Scott Wolf's ballot is good for a few chuckles (and/or grumbles).
Not as bad as Wilner's off course. But, one more fucking idiot voter on the AP Ballot means nothing right?

Of course the AP poll means absolutely nothing anymore.
Except that isn't quite true - the AP final poll actually still does mean something - it bestows a National Champion of it's very own. It just doesn't factor into the BCS.

Illinois up to 13th in this poll - could mean the Illini sneak into the BCS (more $ for the Big10). Assuming Hawai'i is in, and UGA is in by rule (top 4 BCS), that leaves 2 more at large slots for 3 teams:

ASU
Illinois
2nd B12 team (either Mizzou or more likely Kansas)
