I've discussed this here numerous times Woof. They don't get it. But in the end, they cannot explain in rational reasons why hang on sloopy should be a Buckeye tradition worth maintaining anymore than I can explain why a hokey "Two bits" cheer is dear to Gators. It is the culture, the collective agreement that a tradition or thought about our team is worth more than what is visible to the rival's eye.

I am proud of the SEC. I am happy to chant S-E-C at every non-conference game. Simply, it says our conference is better than yours. I think the SEC is the best conference in the land, with the most rabid knowledgeable fan bases and fantastic stadiums.

I would not expect a non-SEC fan to agree with that. Which is fine. And, we have this belief that our schedule is what makes us the best, as the best of our conference can lose to the also rans of our conference with a regularity that escapes the best teams of the Big-10. We think to that extent, all of us help each other. It is cocky and it is arrogant - but so what - beat us and get scoreboard or
S-E-C!

I think that in college where you have so many teams, you have to root for your conference rivals in OOC and bowl games to make your conference look good. The better your conference looks, the better your school looks. HOWEVER, I personally hate rooting for other Big Ten teams. Their our rivals. I hate rooting for my rivals. I don't root for any of my divisional or conference opponents in pro sports because I [censored]ing hate them. I hate the Redskins and the Giants. I hate the Ducks and the Sharks. I hate the Spurs and the Rockets. I hate the Angels and the A's. I hate Michigan, I hate Northwestern, I hate Purdue, I hate Michigan State, ect, ect. I love to see Michigan get trounced by Notre Dame, App State, and Toledo. I think it's [censored]ing hilarious. I am of the opinion that if OSU takes care of business, we'll get to where we want to be in the post season. Doesn't matter what the rest of the conference does if we take care of business.

Nothing wrong with your view. Its just how we are different as regions and conferences. We think your conference as a whole does not take football seriously. We find your tailgating and stadium craziness culture to be weak. (here, of course, I exempt tOSU maniacs. You would be a good fit in the SEC. Rabid fans with a great stadium who appreciate the game, know the rules, and live and die on Saturday - as God intended. I refer to the conference as a whole - not the Game or the top tier of the Big-10. )

I completely understand the "root for your conference" mentality.

It makes beating those teams look better.
But at the end of the day, it's tough to do that.

I would love to be able to say the SEC went 9-0 in Bowls last year, but when Auburn is on TV, I cannot find it in myself to root for those arrogant redneck assholes from such a shithole little town, but that's just me. Fuck 'em, I'm glad they suck this year, bunch of pricks.

Edit to add: Fuck Tennessee while we're at it. That Fat Fuck cost me money in the bowl pick 'em last year. Just when you expect that son of a bitch to lay an egg, they actually show up and beat somebody. I hope he chokes on his twinkies during his forced retirement. Good for nothin' piece of shit!

Oh, and while I'm at it, Gator, Oct. 10th next year, I would like to buy you a beer before we kick your boy's asses!

Bama Sucks too!

Furthermore, we find your women to be far too pale. The thought of females wearing pants to football games is shocking and crewd. We demand Sundresses and high heels until the weather drops below 60 degrees.

I formally invite you to a house party off campus at Ohio State any given weekend.

I agree with you there. Most of the conference does not take football as seriously as the SEC does. I'd say Penn State, Ohio State, and Michigan are the exceptions. Even Vanderbilt, who is usually at the bottom of your conference in the standings, is probably a better football school than a lot of the Big Ten. The SEC leads the nation in attendance just about every year for a reason. I'll also give you guys baseball hands down the best conference in the country.

I accept! The SC game next year then? Will there be bbq and oysters on the half shell? My favorite drinks are burbon, burbon and water and diet coke mixed with burbon.

Oh my goodness, the ladies from SoCal and our girls from OSU? You just made me realize what an amazing weekend that will be. It'll be early enough in the season for little clothing as well. :groove:

I'm sure any food could be arranged, as well as any combination of drink/liquor.
