Can this be opened back up so I can dump some vCash on Valverde?

Sounds like the race could be over after tomorrow.

Umm, no on opening it back up.

And although Valverde has the stronger team, all Evans has to do is mark him in the mountains and not lose to him in the time trail on the next-to-last day of the tour. And Evans should actually gain time in the time trial.

It will be interesting to see how much time Kirchen loses to those two and to Menchov tomorrow. I'm hoping that Liggett gets to say:

"And there's CARNAGE all over the road in this stage ..."

Cadel Evans is really beat up. He's a tough guy, but he lost a lot of skin and there is lots of racing left. He will suffer a great deal before it's all over. This is a survival game. Evans will need to get through tomorrow. Then we'll see if he can bounce back. :(

Bad timing for Cadels crash. He made it today fine but the day after a crash is the worst. He looked like he had quite the rasberry on his hip after his fall today. Valverde will have to prove it too me that he can do it over a few days before I am buying him winning. He can look terrific on day and then very pedestrian the next. He is brilliant, but not consistant. He is going to loose 3-4 min minimum in the long TT so he has to kick the crap out of Evans over the Mountains or he is going to loose.

That kid we saw today win the stage is a future winner of the tour IMO. Really a nice rider.

Hats off to Kirken, he has performed well every day. It will be interesting to see if he can hand with Valverde and Evans on the steep stuff. My guess is that he will perform well but loose some time.

Should I go to work or not....

It looked like some players could have made moves today but instead I think they pushed it just hard enough to ripen up those on the verge of breaking - and they are going to try and break them tomorrow before the rest day on Tuesday.

The yellow jersey was saying he hopes his legs feel better tomorrow. Not sure that is realistic after the toughest stage of the tour.

My thoughts exactly. If he shows up tomorrow the future could be now. It was remarkable how he walked away from today's field. Granted, they let him go, but he didn't look like he was even working.

Speaking of the future - anyone been following the career of Taylor Phinney?

Thanks for net reopening the vBet. :)

I thought the interesting story from today's tour was about Evans post race yesterday. As soon as he finished they took him directly to the team car. That car was then pulled over for going in excess of 100 MPH on its way to the hospital. After they found out who it was the police provided an escort the rest of the way.

Interesting sense of urgency since between the injury and the trip to the hospital Evans did roughly 3 hours of bicycle riding.

And today he takes the yellow.

These are some interesting gentleman.

BTW does anyone else think Ricco, Ricardo is riding better since he dumped Lucy?

Marred by doping again, Tour continues
FIGEAC, France (AP) -- The riders in the Tour de France begin their second week of the sport's showcase event Saturday, but Spanish veteran Manuel Beltran won't be among them after testing positive for the performance-enhancer EPO.
The case has thrown a pall over the race, which was seeking to recover from a doping-marred event last year and 10 years since a series of drugs scandals on the Tour damaged cycling's reputation.
"When are these idiots going to learn that it's over?" said Pat McQuaid, head of the International Cycling Union. "They continue to think that they can beat the system. They're wrong. The system is catching up all the time."
Beltran was immediately suspended by his Liquigas team after the news of his positive test broke Friday evening. However the rest of the team still intended to race on Saturday. Last year, a positive test for Cofidis' Cristian Moreni led the entire team to withdraw.

Duenas Nevado pulls out of Tour, detained by police

TARBES, France -- French police have detained Spanish cyclist Moises Duenas Nevado after he tested positive for the banned blood booster EPO during the Tour de France.
Police took away the Barloworld rider, who was 19th overall in the Tour after 10 stages, after they briefly questioned him at the team's hotel in the southwestern French town of Tarbes.
Pierre Bordry, the head of the French anti-doping agency, said Duenas Nevado tested positive for the banned blood booster after the fourth stage on July 8 in Cholet, the site of the race's first time trial.
A Barloworld team spokesman said Wednesday that Duenas Nevado has pulled out of the race and was immediately suspended.
Duenas Nevado became the second Spanish rider to fail a doping test during this year's race. Last week, Liquigas rider Manuel Beltran was detained by French police and tossed from the Tour following an announcement that he had tested positive, also for EPO.
