2009 Polls - Regular and Pre-Season

AP poll

Does it bother anyone else that the AP poll is so inconsistent and completely based on who ever ESPN is hyping. I have a little bias because i am a die hard buckeye fan. I do understand Cincinnati deserves to be ahead of OSU because they have yet to lose but what about Iowa? Cincinnati opponents have a combined record of 8-14 and none ranked in the AP poll while Iowa's opponents combined record is 15-9 and they defeated a 5th ranked Penn St team in Happy Valley. Thats just an example...anyways i know it is early and these polls don't really mean much but it just errks me :tongue2:. Oh well.

The AP poll never bothers me anymore. Because it doesn't matter anymore...regardless of the week.

Any poll that has Doug LeMesirables of the CPD vote is not worth anyones spit. His thing is basing it all on what happens on the field, not on if it is a teams "name". So he had Houston # 3 until they were punked. This week he has Bosie State #2 (over Florida) and Cincy #4 even through they have not played anyone. BTY we are # 13 on his ballot.

Dunno why people are pissy about UC being ahead of us at this point. If we win, we don't have to worry.

Maybe because they jumped us despite our pounding a 3-1 Big Ten team on the road whilst they pounded a 0-4 MAC team on the road by virtually the same score. It's clear that our beating Big Ten opponents with a better record than Cincy's MAC opponents does us no good, so your "If we win, we don't have to worry" statement has already been refuted. If Cincy runs the table, they will be ranked ahead of us in the AP poll, and that's total fucking bullshit.

Ohio State looking up at Cincinnati in Top 25: College Football Insider

By Doug Lesmerises

Al Behrman / Associated PressCincinnati quarterback Tony Pike, above, does have more experience than Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor.Five weeks in, five thoughts on the college football season:
No. 1. Cincinnati is ranked ahead of Ohio State in the Associated Press poll, and deserves to be: The No. 8 Bearcats moved past the No. 9 Buckeyes this week in the AP poll for the first time since Nov. 21, 1951, when the 4-2-2 Buckeyes lost major style points coming off a 0-0 tie against Illinois. It was Woody Hayes' first season at Ohio State, and one can imagine what Hayes thought of that development -- it obviously motivated him to embark on a path to legendary status.
It's odd that the historic poll shift came this week, with the 5-0 Bearcats coming off a 24-point win over 0-5 Miami (Ohio), while the Buckeyes are coming off a 19-point win against 3-2 Indiana. Must have been that last-second meaningless touchdown pass Ohio State allowed. Or it's just voters who are slow on the draw.
Ohio State's best win is still only against . . . Navy? Indiana?

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but won't the computers put a huge damper on just how far Cincinnati is in front of tOSU when it comes to the BCS poll?

We're already ahead of them in the polls that the BCS uses. The AP can go suck a big fat cock for all I care. Their poll doesn't mean shit when all is said and done. Let them rank Cincy and Boise St 1 and 2 and bitch that neither of them make the BCS championship. Join a real conference and see if you can go undefeated.

No it hasn't and you know it.

If we win, all will be fine and all we need to worry about is ourselves. I don't have even the slightest doubt that if we won each game, we'd be ahead of Cincy. But we've got FAR too much work ahead of us to be worried about that. Just beat Wiscy. Just get a little bit better each week.
