I guess they had a successful recruiting weekend:ohwell:. RR must have snake charmed them into believing they willhave good team next year...where are these kids parents at? Just boggles m mind...especially with his hrrible reputation.

Did they get any commits or just a lot of praise from those that were there?

Wasn't the theme of the weekend "Come to Michigan - What's The Worst That Can Happen?"

Archiving this post from here:

Who is to blame, and whether blame should be tossed around, particularly if it throws your current players under the bus.

If there wasn't an issue with the last 3 or 4 Februarys, then tell me who the talented players are from those 2 classes 3 and 4 years ago? Where are the "normal" Michigan stars? Graham? Warren? Brown? That's 3 guys out of nearly 50 signed those 2 Februarys. Where's the depth?
Graham, Warren, Minor, Brown, Mallett is a solid lineup of talent that was on track to get drafted this fall by the Carr regime. Boren would be another name, but that's next year. Then some blue-chip underachievers like Schilling, Mouton, Slocum. UM is a team that typically produces 4-5 draft picks. That's about what you'd get with the above list, with Mallett & Graham as first rounders, and Warren as a first day pick.

Is this enough talent to avoid having a downswing? Nope. But it's enough to avoid the big ten record so far.

BOLD = five-star prospect
2006 OSU

06 - Starters: Grant, Browning, Miller, Chekwa, Larimore, Ballard
03 - Backups: Small, Rose, Moeller
03 - Benchwarmers: Gant, Schwartz, Smith
03 - Attrition: Dublin, Johnson, Henton

2006 UM

04 - Stars: Graham, Boren, Brown (as sr), Minor
04 - Starters: Schilling, Mouton, Mathews, Ezeh
03 - Backups: Brown, Dorrestein, Wright,
04 - Benchwarmers: Patterson, Cone, Banks, Ferrera
05 - Attrition: Slocum, Mixon, Patilla, Kates, Woods
This class gave OSU 11 contributors (incl Moeller), 2 journeymen & 6 benchwarmers.

This class gave UM 9 contributors (incl brown), 2 journeymen & 9 benchwarmers.
2007 OSU

02 - Stars: Heyward, Rolle
04 - Starters: Hines, Herron, Torrence, Sanzenbacher
01 - Backups: Saine
05 - Benchwarmers: Thomas, Pentello, Evege, Oliver, Washington
02 - Attrition: Scott, Clifford

2007 UM

02 - Stars: (Mallett), Warren
04 - Starters: Helmuth, Molk, Williams, Van Bergen, Hemingway, Woolfolk, Huyge,
01 - Backups: Herron
05 - Benchwarmers: Watson, Rogers, Panter, Evans, Sagesse
01 - Attrition: Clemons, Kates, Babb, Chambers, Horn
This class gave OSU 7 good contributors, and 7 special teamers (or worse).

This class gave UM 8 good contributors, 2 so so (MW & Herr) & 10 busts.

Now I don't think there's any question that OSU has better talent overall to be ahead of UM. But I think Lloyd left enough talent in Ann Arbor to win 5-6 games in 08 & 7-8 in 09.

Talked to Big Tex

November 24, 2009 – 1:59 pm Last night I had a good talk with Jatashun Beachum and he’s still a Hog. He had a good visit to Michigan but not enough to sway him. Will have more later.

If true, it seems like the big recruiting weekend may lead to landing a few UM leans like Christian & Grimes, but probably not sway guys like Beachem or the Cali visitors.

It's not true.

Can't divulge premium info, but the Michigan guys over at Rivals have spoken with Beachum's mother today (just a few hours ago actually) and well, it looks great for Michigan.

Warren in all likely-hood is coming back. Cullen is just talking ish, because even if DW doesn't come back he probably won't start. He'll see some playing time, but he won't start.

.
Well, that's one source against multiple others...even notoriously sunshine-y beav is low balling this one.

Warren would be wise to go now. He has the raw athletic ability, but if he thinks staying in aa with their horrific secondary coach (Gibson?) is going to improve his stock, he's sadly mistaken. He showed a lot of promise as a frosh, but has regressed badly since DickRod and his gaggle of clowns came to town.

1) Morgan :slappy: Trent and Marlin Jackson are actually playing good football in the NFL. Read it again and think on that.

2) Looming rookie salary cap.

1 + 2 = Departure if he's got a single brain cell still working.

Warren's lack of athletic ability (40 time) is what might prevent him from being drafted very high. Warren has everything you look for in a CB except great speed. When he runs his 4.55-4.6 something 40 at the combine he might find it hard to break into the 1st round.

Warren had his best season at Michigan by far this year as a junior. He's improved greatly from his freshman year to now. He did have a bit of a sophomore slump, but that had more to do with injuries than anything.

As far as Tony Gibson goes, well he's finished coaching DB's after the LOI's are signed on NSD anyways so that is a moot point really.
