Sparty played more bowl teams and had a better opponent W/L record than Ohio State or Wisconsin. They also beat Wisconsin, who beat Ohio State.

I think his argument is based on a little more than net punt average.

It would have been interesting if Ohio State had beaten Wisconsin and kept the #1 spots in the human polls.

I don't think the computer rankings would have kept them out of the BCS NCG game but it owuld have been VERY close.

The final poll (and the breakdown by coach is up):

http://www.usatoday.com/sports/college/football/2010-final-coaches-ballots.htm

Some interesting observations:

1. Harbaugh voted Wisconsin #8, while voting his own team #3 and Oklahoma #5.
2. TCU got 1 first place vote (from Idaho's coach) and 2 second place votes (from New Mexico's and Utah's coaches).
3. Bo Pelini voted Michigan St. #11.
4. Bo Pelini voted Nebraska #8.

You do know that this is a basketball thread. I had not realized that Harbaugh and Pelini where coaching the basketball teams at their respective schools along with football.

With Wisconsin's loss to TCU, our win over Arkansas should ensure us yet another top-5 finish, the fifth in the last six years, and the seventh in Tressel's ten years as head coach. If you play for Ohio State you will most likely:

1. Experience multiple 10-win seasons
2. Finished ranked in the top five multiple times
3. Seriously contend for the national title at least one season
4. Win multiple conference titles
5. Beat Michigan more than once

Not to mention getting a high-quality education at no cost...
