Look, we all know I LOOOOVE reaching for high profile/pricetag prospects like Newton, but have you seen him throw an NFL route? He has the timing of David Cone.

Not only is Julio an infinitely better prospect, but I have to acquire at least two guys on par with Julio to compensate for all of Newton's spray farts from the pocket.

Prince, Blaine and Julio were our top three prospects (excluding the three DL who were never going to fall to us, no matter how many fourteen year old internet geeks thought so in their projections )

What a miserable day it has been for Cam Newton, sitting there forsaken by team after desperate team, many without a steady QB on roster.

This day simply continues what has been a very bittersweet saga for newton, with his path marred with roadblocks, controversy and asterisks, never moreso than in the midst of his otherwise dream season, winning the Heisman and national championship but mired in allegations of a pay for play scandal.

Well, we all know they love charming and dramatic quarterbacks in Minnesota. My gut says he will not be waiting much longer.

Minnesota got excellent value this late in the draft to steal a player with #1 overall talent.

I've always maintained Newton's freakish physical skills and underrated ability as a passer would make him a great prospect in this year's NFL draft. Given his total package of skills and size, and his proven ability as a guy who can adapt, deal with adversity and win, he gives them a potential franchise quarterback at a draft slot where the premiere talent is usually long gone.

Martez was the BPA on our board. The top two players were Julio Jones and Cameron Jordan, both went a couple picks before our pick.

Some may call Martez a reach but the staff didn't see it that way. He was one of the fastest linebackers at the combine and he had a really good workout. We like what he brings to the table. Right now we will plug him in the middle of our 3-4 defense with Karlos Dansby. At times he will move to the outside to help get pressure on the QB with Cameron Wake.

We are going to get a good one today. We feel confident in moving forward next year that our boy Garrard is going to have a field day and people will be saying: Tebow-who? I just hope we sell a ticket.
