And with that... I will entertain offers for the San Diego Chargers pick, contact either myself or Piney... DO NOT contact Norv as he is a dumb ass.

It was an exciting first day of the draft with a record 16 picks made. There were some surprises, most notably Martez Wilson going in the middle of the first round. Wilson really shot up some draft boards.

With this years draft being so deep, not one seems willing to trade up. Miami's
pick was offered (hint, hint)with no takers. The Panthers offered Jimmy Clausen as trade bait and were laughed out of MSG. Time to keep things moving!

We were shocked that Aldon Smith fell to us. He was the best player on our board and had to pounce on him after doing some due dilligence.

Aldon will play OLB for us and if we had a competent coach he will be a terror to opposing QBs.

Finally got a minute, the Colts' offensive line is no longer the elite unit it once was. A major retooling was in order, and Derrick Sherrod is the cornerstone of the effort. Derrick, was our number one guy all along, Jwins has the list to prove it.

Most rating services, ranked Derrick behind, Solder, Carmi, Castanzo, and Smith. Three things really sold us on Derrick. He started four years in the SEC. This told us, he had years of experience, playing against the best money could buy.

His performance in the Senior Bowl game was great. It didn't matter who he lined up against, Derrick dominated them. Also, despite limited practice time to learn the plays, and a chaotic rotating in and out, Derrick never failed to get a block.

Finally, intangibles, here's a list:

Was one of 16 players to win the storied National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame (NFF) Award, which includes a post-graduate $18,000 scholarship. Earned his degree in business with a 3.54 GPA. Is the third Bulldog to win the award and the first since 1989. Team leader voted a captain in 2010. A four-year member of the M-Club, MSU's student-athlete community service organization, he has spent considerable time with the youth of Mississippi. He has served breakfast at Sudduth Elementary School, participated in Sudduth's Kids Fair and read to local students to promote literacy. He has also organized a Thanksgiving food drive.

As some said at the combine; "if you can't trust a guy when he's broke, don't give him eight million dollars of your money."
