A little late with this thread this year but we dropped a tough one to Kutztown last weekend 25-22. Last year Kutztown ran us off the field with their 10/15 South African combination. This year we thought we had the game won until the go-ahead try was waived off because of a questionable obstruction call. Five minutes later we conceded consecutive penalties with our backs against the posts. Kutztown missed the first kick, made the second with no time left. That drops us to 0-1 in the CPL and 1-1 for the spring. Our season opening win came against Bowling Green back in February.

Next game is this Saturday at 1PM at the Lincoln Tower turf fields against Rutgers. The game will also be broadcast live on our UStream channel:

You can watch the chopped up replay of the Kutztown game as well.

Get him to send money.

The Buckeyes beat Rutgers 38-15 last weekend. 4 points for the win plus a bonus point for four tries. A wonderful hat trick on the day for Irish scrumhalf Luke Hickey.

The team departs tomorrow for a Saturday match against Army at West Point. Kickoff at 1PM.

Loving this sport more and more. Got stoked with the Ebner highlights form last year, watched the HK 7's last weekend, and hoping for a good tOSU season.

Need to mention, those Fijians (?) are some crazy mofo's on the pitch. :wow:

MuffDrag - Tokyo 7s is on this weekend. Agreed, about Fiji. I was shocked at the match they gave NZ at Hong Kong.

Wadc - I have 30 Rand left. I would send it to you but I'm not sure that it's enough to even cover the postage.

Steve - The only secrets I picked up were how to find the Southern Cross if one happens to be standing in your backyard and that one might not find oneself so cold if one were not so scantily clad. I don't know that either would be especially helpful to the real Rugby Bucks.

I think that you picked up another great secret. OK. You brought MRB with you, but that was a pretty good thing, no? I'll talk to the guys at Newlands. Obviously, they let me down. :)

I don't know that the tOSU team would want to take any pointers from the preseason game we saw. :) Of course, MRB wouldn't know because she kept falling asleep.

I watched the Tokyo 7s last night and had a few (ok, many and rambling) thoughts.

As much as I hate Australia, I think it's good for the sport for them to be decent. Their players are all around 21 and they could be scary good by Rio.

On the other side of this theory, New Zealand's core players (including my all-time favorite, Tomasi Cama) are starting to look old. They seem to be doing the right thing by starting to work younger players in but they're doing so mainly on the outside. They've got to get a young stud scrumhalf/flyhalf on board (the drop off when Cama went out was cliff-like) and they'll have to find someone to replace Forbes who looks like he's about to die right there on the pitch.

A finals match of Samoa and Oz, even if because of injuries to NZ and ZA, is similarly good for everyone.

Sevens rugby has to be the most geographically and ethnically diverse sport on the planet and I love that it's being showcased, finally, on NBC.

Even a particularly sub-par 7s tournament (in terms of weather, field conditions, and injuries) can be a good watch from a novice spectator's perspective.

I'm finally starting to see signs of life from the USA side. The coaching switch was brilliant and long overdue. I like what I'm seeing from the new players and that I'm not seeing Miles Craig out there at all. Throw War Daddy Ebner in there and we may have something.

Boom.

I love the 7's, and I feel like I'm learning the sport the more I watch it. The penalties are something that I still haven't a grasp of whatsoever.

I just realized that I posted my ravings in the wrong thread. That said, as someone who is NEVER offside or, fails to release the ball or on the tackle or, comes into a ruck from the side, or tackles at head-level, I can't really speak to the penalties but those seem to be what gets called most in 7s.

Wadc can probably explain them as he's charged with coaching them out of tOSU.

I am hoping all the tweeting about a Quidditch game taking over the field is some hyped up inside joke. If not, where will the game be held this Saturday?

Not a joke.

Gerd is looking at possibly writing a story about the whole thing. Talking to our PR guy now.

We are playing Navy at the turf fields. Kick off at 7PM.
