Jones speedster Levonte "Kermit" Whitfield visits Ohio State

ORLANDO --

Jones football and track star Levonte ?Kermit? Whitfield is exploring his options. After decommitting from the University of Miami in March, the rising junior is enjoying the recruiting process. Whitfield is visiting Columbus and will participate in one of the Buckeyes football camps this week.

OSU is among the top six schools Whitfield is considering, others include Florida State, Miami, Florida, West Virginia and Clemson. Personal coach and trainer Ricky Argro said Whitfield?s top two choices are Miami and Florida State.

?I want him honestly wherever he?s comfortable,? said Argro, who graduated from FSU in 2006. ?It may not fit everyone else. I never push kids to FSU at all.?

While the Tigers sprinter has made it known he would like the Noles to offer him, Whitfield has also been an avid Hurricanes fan all his life and his head football coached is a UM alum, Kenard Lang.

June, 25, 2012
By William Wilkerson | ESPN.com

AUSTIN, Texas - - Three-star outside linebacker Reggie Spearman (Chicago/Simeon) wore a huge smile on his face as he walked off the field at Burger Stadium after Team USA?s practice for the IFAF Under-19 World Championship on Monday. Mind you, this was after he had just endured another practice in triple-digit heat.

@LukeStampini Levonte "Kermit" Whitfield rips off 4.37 in the 40. Kids a good WR too, just just a burner.

From earlier in the day. Talk about some blazing speed. Second fastest 40 time (Laser-timed) at The Opening and was the only one besides Jeryl Brazil (4.32) to post a sub 4.4 time.

It?s so far, so good with attention surrounding FCHS? Timmons

By BRIAN RICKERD/[email protected] Published: August 14, 2012

Franklin County football coach Chris Tracy says it?s so far, so good on the hype-fest surrounding standout wide receiver/running back/defensive back/kick returner Ryan Timmons.

?He does well,? Tracy said last week about attention Timmons is getting from college football coaches from the likes of Kentucky, Arkansas, Purdue, Illinois and others. ?He?s a humble kid.?

But, Tracy knows that it could get hectic real quick. Timmons has offers from nine schools, and that list figures to grow.

Timmons told sports writer Emily Patton recently that he hopes to narrow the list to six quickly, and make a decision by mid-season.

All of these schools are attracted by Timmons? blazing speed and quickness. Timmons rushed 62 times for 1,382 yards for the Flyers last season, while catching 38 passes for another 1,100 yards. He scored 38 touchdowns for an 11-1 Franklin County team that could be even better this time around.

In addition, Timmons is, by all accounts, a high character young man.

Tracy, for one, does not envy Timmons? decision.

?I think it?s tough because he?s not ready to make a decision,? Tracy said. ?I don?t think he?s seen everything he wants to see. He wants his mom to see these places as well.?

Tracy said he took Timmons to ?some places? this summer, including Ohio State, Purdue, Illinois and Arkansas.
