2015-16 Ohio State Quarterback Discussion

His stock is high in Ohio State fan circles and it should be without a doubt, but that's about it.

He's much more likely to transfer than declare for the draft.

Mel Kiper says he has the best arm in CFB. his stock isn't going to get much higher than that.
if i were him, i would definitely be making inquiries. we're talking about a kid that never had a new pair of shoes until he was in high school.

I think Cardale is the best NFL prospect of our 3 QB's, but he would have to do what he has done the past 2 games for at least one more game this year and 15 games next year to be a decent pick.

I just can't picture a season next year with one guy taking all the snaps. I don't think it's fair to the rest of them, but I have no idea what you do when you have the 3 best QB's in the B1G. Be nice if there was a way to get a medical redshirt for JT next year and go with Brax and Cardale for a year. I think those two would make for a good 2 QB system.

I dont think "fair" should be in the equation when you're trying to win games and an NC. Training camps, spring ball, practices, etc should let the cream rise to the top, the best plays and the others sit, or if they have to, transfer. I'm not trying to be an asshole, but it is what it is. There can be only one QB on the field and he needs to be the leader. And if a guy gets into a rhythm, I don't see the staff taking him out to try and get reps for another guy to be fair. Cardale has a great arm but has played in 2gms with his 3rd being in a few days. JT has got us to this point, and has shattered numerous OSU records, and had some better stats than our last heisman winner. I understand Cardale is now the flavor of the month, but JT has progressed at an exceptional pace this year and put up outstanding numbers for any QB, let alone a redshirt frosh. My vote is on JT to be our starter next year but were not exactly getting chopped liver if Braxton or Cardale were to win the spot either

Thev same thinking on JT can be applied towards Braxton. He was instrumental in leading OSU to this point (complete 180 from 2011). He too has had better numbers than our last Heisman winner.

Very true. But the offense sure looked more efficient :under JT than under Braxton, its splitting hairs in the end becsuse we'll all root for whoever wins the job and have full confidence that the winner will lead an extremely potent offense

I'm torn completely on all three. Braxton's speed, Cardale's throwing the ball, or JT's overall game? I did not like what I saw after the MSU game from JT I will say that. I thought he become much more dependent on his legs, He continued to struggle getting the ball deep, and the offense just looked 'off'. Bottom line is we will need 2 QB's at the minimum next year and I believe 2 of them will stay.

I will say this for Cardale who is quickly growing on me... He's beaten 2 defenses better than MSU in regards to competition faced. I think Cardale has stood in the pocket moreso, he's thrown the ball away a ton when it's not there (maybe something he does better than JT) and obviously his arm strength enhances our ability to utilize our WR's even more which is a big strength of our offense. What I found happened at the end of the year teams came up on our offense and dared JT to throw the ball deep and in colder weather his already iffy deep ball became irrelevant. What Cardale does better than the others is he forces a defense to respect the deep pass because it won't matter the weather or the time of year if you come up on a Cardale lead offense he can throw it maybe not as far as warm weather but still a good bit further and faster than the others to make them pay.

My head is all over the place with the QB race though... JT maybe was a better practice player but much like Troy Smith perhaps Cardale is just a better game player than he is practice. If he wins us a National Championship game I'm not so sure Cardale doesn't win this thing as he will have beat the number 13, 1, and 2 ranked teams in his first 3 starts.

I agree and I'm equally as torn, but we had one of our most successful offensive years with JT, I'm sure the weather and game plan factored into some of his stats after MSU. But there's hardly anything to game plan against Cardale in just 2gms, so he has that luxury and also Cardale will be playing his 3rd straight game in a dome on Monday, perfect climate should allow his ball to flow seamless. But he still has to work on that accuracy, and JT is already very accurate and great at looking through his progressions. Cardale doesn't look through progressions the same way as JT, and I'm sure that has to do with game reps. A year where almost everyone thought OSU would take a step back offensively after the lose of Braxton became even more dangerous behind the arm of JT. This off season will be fun and stressful for the coaches I'm sure. Because I'm also sure that Braxton isn't just going to concede anything to the other QBs, and if he can read defenses and work on his accuracy better, he may be the best of the bunch due to him having the most dangerous legs in CFB in space.
