2015 CFB Week 1 Open Thread

You're missing the point. Yeah Auburn, Alabama, LSU, Ol Miss and Misstate schedule kiddies - and they do it late in the season. That's not the point - the point is they don't go to NSEW Louisiana's home field to play the games.

That part was in response to the Sparty/western Michigan thing....Sparty has outscheduled all of those SECSECSEC teams by scheduling Western....and with them playing Oregon the next week, they are light years ahead....

Thanks to BTN, Purdue and Illinois can't use revenue stream as an excuse for the on field product and they shouldn't sign up to play in the football equivalent of the wading pool or the bunny slope.

It takes more than revenue streams to produce solid football programs...likewise, a solid football program doesn't necessarily mean the money is flowing in on the back end either, e.g. Kansas State. solid program, plays well above its head historically....there's a reason that Purdue and Illinois are barely above .500 over all...they have been middling (at best) programs for their entire history with some notable exceptions, none of which were permanent.

Whoa whoa whoa....Historically Kansas State is one of the worst programs in college football...as in battling Northwestern for the cellar worst.

Even after a couple of decades of Bill Snyder their all time record is 504-624-41 .449

Historically KSU doesn't belong in the same conversation as Purdue (596-535-49 .526) & Illinois (591-560-50 .513).

Illinois should be on the phone with Bob Stitt right now. Guy is a guru in coaching circles and the inventor of the touch-pass/fly-sweep popularized by Dana Holgorsen, and a variation of a tunnel screen that was first widely seen under Sumlin. Both plays, of course, became staples in the OSU offense last season.

When he speaks at coaching clinics other coaches stop to listen. Only 51 too so could probably give a major FBS school 15 years of service time, at least.

Because this is the most active thread: Ohio State-Michigan 2006 is on BTN right now. We're up 28-21, Troy just threw a tipped pick. I'm starting to get nervous.
