2016-2017 Ohio State Men's Basketball (Official Thread)

It's a bit surprising that Jackson is getting all of these minutes down the stretch in lieu of Lyle.

Also, Kam Williams has been pretty good this evening.

It's only one game, but I really don't see what Lyle brings to the table any more. Somewhat slow on D, not a true point, and we have shooters in Kam (!), Bates-Diop, and Loving to stretch the opponents out. CJ looked like a natural PG...finished with 9 assists. I'm not giving up on Lyle, again, but he probably needs to be re-assessed. Thompson looked very solid, albeit against an undersized team. I'm thinking this team, without major minutes from Lyle, is the more likely to contend for something.

A bit off topic, but man am I dumb. I noticed earlier that IU has a player named "Courage".......then I just noticed that Kansas has a player named "Honor" and thought "gee, that's pretty strange....I wonder if they can get a picture together or something."

Yeah......they're playing in the Armed Forces Classic and all the Ku unis say "honor" and all the IU unis say "courage". :slappy:

Another Buckeye team that, based on a sparse sample set, looks to add up to much less than the sum of its parts. There's a great deal of individual talent there that just doesn't seem to mesh very well into a cohesive whole.

Disappointing debut, but a win nonetheless. Hope my pessimism turns out to be unfounded.

In other news Ohio State will take on North Carolina Central tonight at 9 PM on ESPNU
This will be the first meeting between the two schools and should be a good test for the Buckeyes:wink: North Carolina Central is located in Durham NC with an enrollment of a little under 9000 students for those of you who care.

North Carolina Central: G Dajuan Graf (6-0, Sr., 19 ppg); G Rashaun Madison (6-0, Sr., 6 ppg); G Patrick Cole (6-5, Sr., 18 ppg); F Will Ransom (6-8, Sr., 0 ppg); F Kyle Benton (6-7, Jr., 0 ppg).

QUOTE]The Eagles are coming off an 81-69 loss to Marshall in their season-opener on Saturday ... Senior guard Dajuan Graf led the team with 19 points in the loss ... North Carolina Central has been playing Division I basketball since 2011 ... Last season, the Eagles finished 13-19 overall, and 7-9 in the MEAC ... They were predicted to finish fourth in the MEAC in this year's preseason poll.[/QUOTE]http://www.cleveland.com/osu/index.ssf/2016/11/ohio_state_basketball_vs_north.html

I actually don't think Navy is that bad of a team, all things considered. 19-14 last year, B1G experience in coach Ed DeChillis, Abdullah growing up from last year and keeping them in the game....all things considered, a nice first game. This one will be more of the 30-point rout we are looking for. Potter really needs to show something against an outmatched front court; I'm not so worried about Thompson. Good tune up before Providence visits in three days.

Yea, NCCU is not a very good squad to say the least, at least not on paper. They went 13-19 last year and lost 2 of their top 3 scorers. On talent alone this one shouldn't be close, but we will see.

As far as Providence goes, will be interesting to see how they fare without Kris Dunn and Ben Bentil, they open with Vermont tonight (probably the American East favorite and always stringy)
