2016 Summer Olympics, Rio de Janeiro

So the tape was edited? Lochte and teammates are in a car and then, *poof* they aren't in the car anymore? I'm pretty sure that even Brazilian autorities are smart enough to know that that wouldn't fly, and I doubt that is what happened.

I have no idea what happened but this just gets more and more bizarre each time a new "claim" comes out.
They get all pissed of when someone calls them a third-world country and then when accused of doctoring a video they all-of-a-sudden can't do it? Can't have it both ways.

The video I saw was edited. I just assumed the news agency did it. It's choppy and some parts were obviously cut.

Well, I'm not big Lochte fan, but here's what I see shaping up: Brazilian authorities say they doubt they were robbed, the press picks up on this and, do to each saying the exact same thing, claim "evidence is mounting". The video I saw didn't prove anything. Well, what about that Washington Post report? Or TMZ? It doesn't fit the agenda so *poof* it is gone. The swimmers may have been at fault, but this shows me all the signs of a railroading.

I haven't watched the video. I've just read the latest account given from Lochte. Count me in as someone who thinks that Brazil is third world and can't doctor film. I at least don't think they are capable of doctoring film to make Lochte and friends vandalize the store. I do figure that when Lochte was shown the video, that he would at least have been shown it in it's entirety, but again...Brazil.

It is just bizarre that the part of the video that seems pretty crucial, is the part that gets *poofed.* This whole mess is just very confusing and it's bad when you don't know whether to believe a guy with seemingly no reason to fake what happened, or Brazil.

At this point, it would seem that Lochte wants to prove that a robbery happened. Brazil wants to prove it didn't happen. For Brazil to prove a robbery didn't happen, they need to have that part of the video to show, "Hey, see! No robbery!". If that is missing, then I'm not sure what Brazil is trying to prove. They can't sit back and say, "Oh...we don't have that part of the tape, but nothing happened, trust us." Sure. I trust you Brazil...Then again, I don't trust Lochte either. He seemed to leave out the part about vandalizing the store like some 15 year olds when claiming he was robbed. I don't believe anyone in this situation. It was aliens.

Someone cue the Lombardi, "What the Hell is going on here?"

Oh, this is AWESOME.

Lochte. Guns.

Cops. No guns.

Lochte. Watergate tapes.

Cops. OK, maybe some guns.

Lochte: Well of course we vandalized the bathroom, no one asked that.

I mean, there had to be some kernel of truth to it... he's incapable of just dreaming it up from nothing, isn't he? And to be honest, his version of events might actually be how he perceived it going down. Especially if he didn't get a chance to pee on the walls and he really really had to go. I'm sure he wasn't actually scared, I don't know that he knows what guns really do.

I'll start out by saying that I think Lochte is both an attention whore as well as someone who seems very gullible. I don't know if I would call him a liar because this is uncharted territory.

That said, I just returned from a military trip to Mexico City and Juarez. We were heavily briefed that the city police are corrupt and heavily imbedded with cartel focusing on petty crimes. It seems like Brazil has the same issues in their country, Rio particularly (being the most heavily toured). I definetly believe they (Brazilian police) have the resources and intelligence to doctor the only video they have in connection to an international affair involving the worlds super power. They know damn well they don't want to come out on the losing end of this, especially after all of the corruption involving the olympics.

What do I believe happened? I believe that security guards brandished a weapon to Lochte and his homeboys in an attempt to get restitution for the vandalism. This is likely common their and extremely uncommon to Americans. I doubt they had any intentions to kill, but certainly wanted money.

Europe's top Olympic official arrested in Rio over tickets sales

Mr Hickey, 71, is suspected of being involved in a scheme to sell tickets for higher than their face value.

He was taken to hospital as a precaution, and will probably stay the night there, police said.

The Olympic Council of Ireland (OCI) said he had stood down temporarily from his roles after being arrested.

I watched some of the boxing and was really questioning some of the scoring. Then say what judges and referees removed and claims of rigged fights....good to see just like shitty coverage some things never change with the olympics....
