2017-2018 College Basketball Discussion (Official Thread)

Oh, shit's about to go down.

The FBI claims Jim Gatto -- the Director of Global Marketing for Adidas Basketball -- paid hundreds of thousands of dollars in bribes to funnel top prospects to Adidas sponsored colleges ... including Louisville.

....

It's all in court docs obtained by TMZ Sports ... which say Gatto conspired with a team of people in a massive illegal bribery scheme.

In the documents, the FBI says Gatto tried to pay one player and his family $100,000 to get him to a school of Gatto's choice.

The FBI says it has wiretapped phone calls catching Gatto and his conspirators in the act.

So far there have been direct links to all power conferences except the B1G and Big East associated with the corruption and bribery scandal. Two programs apiece in the SEC, Pac-12 and ACC. It is only going to grow from here, IMO.

Brad Underwood is the new coach at Illinois. In 2016-2017 he was the head coach at Oklahoma State. He was only there one year, however.

I would call that an indirect link since the assistant has not been coaching in the B1G to my knowledge. Underwood might have brought him to Illinois if he saw fit, but it didn't happen for whatever reason.

This one is interesting to me...I see no reason for student-athletes to be playing in China in the first place. Besides that, the word on the internet is that this crime carries a penalty of 3-10 years in China! They do not play.

Besides, I can't stand everything "Ball" related, so this adds another layer of amusement.
