2017 College Football Playoffs (and Other Bowl Games)

It would serve us well to have Clemson lose tonight. Then if they can take out Miami they could help our odds.

I have a bad feeling Bama is now a lock and Auburn vs Georgia is a lock. OU is basically a lock. Let’s see how far Bama drops and that will indicate how the committee views them. Would not shock me at all to see Bama only drop to 4, 5 at worst.

This Bama loss definitely made it tougher for us.
I don't see them putting 2 teams in from the same conference... I just don't. Especially a team with no top 10 wins

I don't think Woody would be a fan of the CFP.

If Wisconsin wins next week, Bama is home. If OSU wins next week by a tiny margin, I think bamas in. OSU wins by 3 scores, I think they're in. Either way, Bama is huge buckeye fans next Saturday night.

Need Auburn ranked #1 imo. Then it makes various rematches very unattractive. Hopefully somebody reminds Committee of the ratings for that bogus LSU-Bama Championship Game.

I would normally agree with you, except when it’s Bama.
I agree... but if they can leave a 1 loss OSU out that clearly was a top 2 team in 2015 then they can leave out a 1 loss Alabama team. It's not a slam dunk that bama is in though is what I'm saying

Bama has to fall below Auburn and Auburn isn't getting a top 2 spot either. So Alabama at #4 is great for us.

They left them out because they had no option . There wasn’t a 2 loss conf champ mixed in .

Sucks but even if we win , I think we’re headed to the Fiesta against pac12 champ

My thoughts based on these two assumptions:
They’re going to want to involve as many conferences as they reasonably can.
They’re going to have a hard time including a conference championship game loser.

ACC CG winner in, loser out
SEC CG winner in, loser out
OU wins, they’re in; lose they’re out
Wisconsin wins, they’re in; lose, they’re out

To me it comes down to these two scenarios:

If OU and OSU win, is OSU or Alabama in?
If OU loses and OSU wins, then Alabama and OSU are in.

If the committee can leave out 2 loss B10 winner and H2H winner PSU and put us in a one loss didn’t even play for our conference team, they most certainly can put Bama with their only loss to a top 5 team in over us a 2loss B10 champ with no h2h to even look at. I know Bama has basically no good wins but we all know the SEC constantly gets overrated.

I think the committee will affirm that when they barely drop Bama after this loss

Neither here nor there, but you know when "they" will expand the playoffs? When all 5 major conferences have a 13-0 champion.

And by some miracle ND also finishes undefeated.

IOW ain't gonna happen!

>

btw, 'bama's loss today was their worst loss since the 2014 Sugar Bowl to Okla 45-31 when they basically had nothing to play for after Auburn's miracle field goal return ruined their perfect 2013 season.

2012 lost to TX A&M by 5. Won NC.
2011 lost to LSU by 3. Won NC.
2010 lost to S Carolina by 14, LSU by 3, Auburn by 1. So 2010 was a god awful year for 'bama!
2009 undefeated 14-0 NC. Closest win 12-10 over Tennessee.

I digress ...

Even espn is saying bama's resume doesn't stand up to OSUs, even with the other loss.
11-2 overall, 1-1 against top 5 teams, 2-3 against top 10 teams, and probably 3-4 against top 15 teams. Finishing rather strong.
10-1 overall, 0-1 against top 5 teams, 0-1 against top 10 teams, 0-1 against top 15 teams, and probably 1-1 against top 25 teams. Finishing on a downhill trend.

That said, the good guys would be pretty big dogs to Auburn, Clemson and Oklahoma and I don't feel great against any of them right now. I think we would have a hay day with anyone else in the top 10, those 3 are just all hitting their strides and we're still bumbling along trying to figure out our identity. I really wanted to play Bama.
