2017 College Football Playoffs (and Other Bowl Games)

Even espn is saying bama's resume doesn't stand up to OSUs, even with the other loss.
11-2 overall, 1-1 against top 5 teams, 2-3 against top 10 teams, and probably 3-4 against top 15 teams. Finishing rather strong.
10-1 overall, 0-1 against top 5 teams, 0-1 against top 10 teams, 0-1 against top 15 teams, and probably 1-1 against top 25 teams. Finishing on a downhill trend.

That said, the good guys would be pretty big dogs to Auburn, Clemson and Oklahoma and I don't feel great against any of them right now. I think we would have a hay day with anyone else in the top 10, those 3 are just all hitting their strides and we're still bumbling along trying to figure out our identity. I really wanted to play Bama.
I don't think it's an identity issue. JT just isn't a consistently good throwing QB and defenses are making him pay for it. On defense our LBs are straight ass and can single-handily lose a game for us. Funny how the offense looked a lot smoother when Haskins was in the game.

I love your numbers, I hate the way you listed them so I am commandeering your post

In 2015, OSU had basically 1 kinda quality win, over Michigan. Lost to the only great team in MSU. They were 11-1 and did not win their division. Sound familiar?

In the final CFP rankings, Stanford, an 11-2 conference champ was ahead of OSU because of more quality wins.
Boom.

Two top 10 wins if we win out and a loss to a top 4 team.

We have an extra loss but then again we will have played an extra game.

Boy it will be close. . But if bama is #4 like I suspect they will be then I have no idea how they hold #4 while not playing

Now that I think of it... the rankings SHOULD have it as this.

1. Clemson
2. OU
3. Auburn
4. Wisconsin

That being the case... no idea how they put bama in when they may not even be in the top 4 this week.

Everyone keeps using us last year as the reason to justify Alabama. Two things off the bat

We beat Michigan, a top 3 team the last week of the year, and our loss was a tight fluky one on the road late.

Alabama this year, if A&M beats LSU, has no top 20 wins, AND got slaughtered in its one meaningful game, which included an essential bye as a lead-in.

Yeah, OSU last year is not comparable to Bama this year at all. OSU beat three Top 10 teams and had a convincing road win over a P5 conference champ.

It would take an ungodly whipping of Wisconsin for us to have any chance at getting in over Bama. Id be shocked if they didnt capitalize off the chance of having 2 SEC teams in there.

The bucks just got the gift they needed - Stanford wins by 18 leaving ND with three losses. So beat Wiscy and the worst thing that can happen is the Rose Bowl. Lose to Wiscy and they probably still end up in Pasadena.

The door isn't completely closed yet, but I'm not expecting the dominoes to fall correctly after Bama spit the bit. If Stanford doesn't beat USC, I think they'll still be hanging around despite everyone counting them out.

They'll never admit it, but 31-0 is going to be a bigger problem with the Committee than the Iowa loss. The Iowa loss will be the official scapegoat that they'll hammer (and it should absolutely be a consideration, don't mistake what I'm saying), but last year is a factor that will be taken into consideration.
