They were right there on just about every catch, even in the first half, and there weren't many yards after the catch. They weren't beaten like a rented mule like our secondaries have before, e.g. Clemson No. 1. It wasn't perfect but there are worse places to have to start.

Is there any way we can coach the d-backs to turn and look for the ball and not just try to knock it away when the receiver catches it?

Huge problem ..not good enough to play man to man and don't know how to Coach or play a zone. We can't cover long enough for our DL to matter.

Go to Nickel or play that 5 man rush more. The LBs are terrible in coverage and not making plays that OSU linebackers are known for. Baker has been pretty silent and we thought he'd be a superstar. Not feeling too good today about the middle of the defense and that includes safeties.

They should have every DB take off all their stupid bands they put all over their arms and legs.. also make them wear normal mouth pieces and not those big pacifier ones.

All about show... well that show is embarrassing. They'll improve but only because the teams coming up suck

Time to also start looking at the young pups at DB, the 2 guys rotating opposite Ward are looking lost, not to mention so does Erick Smith who is an absolute liability in coverage. Almost every TD I saw him flailing mercilessly towards a receiver as he was either making a big gain or scoring.

I understand your frustration. But anyone facing these offenses would be looking at something similar.

Not trying to make excuses, but we lose three first rounders from the defensive backfield. We were going to take a step back.

No they wouldnt.. We have been recruiting on par with bama and Nick Saban would have had Baker Mayfield on the bench in the 4th quarter with a towel over his head.

I said we would take a step back too... but 400 yards per game over 2 games??? Fuck that... That's pathetic.

We made Lagow look like an NFL QB. He got benched yesterday. Against Virginia. There's growing pains, and then there's what we've got.

Yeah, I was watching the IU game yesterday and saw that. I didn't mention it yesterday because I didn't have the heart to do it before the game.

Nick saban's qb throws about as many good passes downfield as JT. The difference is Calvin Ridley catches the infrequently well thrown balls downfield.

If Clemson had not maintained their half decade pact to never cover the TE, Saban would have gone a bunch of years without a Nc and underwhelming qb play would have been the biggest Achilles heel.

imagine how big the kerry coombs legend would be if had not returned to ohio state this season, assuming, of course, that the pass defense would have been no better without him.

I still have some faith that this group will improve and be decent by the end of the year. It can't come fast enough.

More concerned with the front 7 that was supposed to be dominant. Not sure if I'm being unreasonable in my expectations, but I thought the DL would be able to control games, even against top notch teams. Maybe the secondary is just so porous that it doesn't matter, but I'm not seeing the domination expected from a group that goes 2 deep with NFL level talent.

LBs are a whole nother problem. They were specifically targeted. Hopefully they learn from it and improve.
