2018 NFL Draft Talk Thread

bigdog3300

The G.O.A.T.
Because as a Browns fan, there is nothing I love more than draft talk.....it takes my mind off of 1-31.

Hoping the Browns can luck into Darnold and Derwin James at 4

Any guys you think will be over/underrated?

How would you rank the QB's? I'll do mine below....

1. Darnold - Has it all....leader, great arm, feel....not worried about the turnovers at all. Watson had 30 INT's his last 2 years, Darnold has 22. They make throws others can't.
2. Allen - I've thought since last year he's Favre 2.0.....just minus the cell pics. His stats don't tell the story. Favre, Big Ben, all the above.
3. Jackson - Michael Vick 2.0?
4. Mayfield - I worry about the intangibles, and the size worries me....listed at 6'1? So lucky to be 6' at the combine. Eh. A less Manziel-Manziel?
5. Rosen - throws one of the best balls I've seen...unfortunately, his teammates hate him, he'll divide a locker room, and does not love football. There are no great QB's who fit that description.

I would not draft Darnold if I were the Browns. He makes some unorthodox plays, but he almost averaged 2 turnovers a game this season in college (fumbles are just as bad as picks). So I would say he will turn it over twice a game in the pros. Rosen is more fundamental, pro-style and I would pick him over Darnold. Mayfield may turn out to be better than both of them, but having #1 may cause a pick of Rosen or Darnold due to scout pressure since they will be available. But if I'm the Browns, I have already wasted a lot of high picks on QB in recent years, they should use their cap space to get a FA QB and draft a couple future longtime pro bowlers at other positions with 1 & 4.

If the Browns can get Alex Smith, I would look to trade the No. 1 and slide back a couple spots and take Barkley.

I dunno....Crowell and Johnson are already a solid set of backs, they have so many other areas of concern. I'm fine with Smith getting signed, but would still take Darnold.

If they traded down; I'd want them to beef up that secondary...get 2 of James, Ward, Fitzpatrick, Jackson.

the browns seriously need just about everything.. taking yet another QB shouldnt be on the radar.. you are just going to get him killed.. the browns best hope is someone seriously falls in love with rosen or darnold and they give up a retarded deal to get number one... i know they have enough picks but there also have too many holes... i have no problem trading the number one over all pick every year they have it unless there is a legitimate generational talent to pick up.

1 Trash
2 Has a chance but will need to sit at least a year.
3 LOLOL VICK. You're drunk

5 Has a chance but his durability is my big concern. The shit of his team mates not liking him and "doesn't love football" is cliche' speak.

Crow is out the door and can be replaced. His vision is too questionable to be a feature back. Duke isn't a feature back because of his size but he's a great compliment to keep around.

I can't get on board with taking Barkley top 10. Not saying I don't think he'll be a solid pro... he'll be pretty good. But Zeke territory worthy? Nah.

This QB draft class had been overrated substantially. I don't see one who looks like he will be great in his rookie year. Mayfield struggled when there was pressure vs UGA and their offense was in a rut - a front runner is certainly not what the Browns need. I would feel better with Alex Smith than spending a high first on a QB in this class.

While I agree Barkley is not Zeke, the kid is a franchise RB and a team-oriented player. With Crow out the door and Duke not an every down back, what do you do? He is a safe pick and a day one starter. The only question is there someone out there you pick over him?

I really like the idea of signing Cousins or going after Alex Smith, and picking Barkley #1 overall unless there is a sweet trade on the table. There are other RBs out there that will be very good Pros, Love, Harris, Chubb, etc.

Taking Barkley #1 overall is just... not good.

Quite fond of Rashaad Penny. Chubb showed some good things today. But in the modern NFL spending a top 5 pick on a RB is a gamble but spending a #1 overall is insanity.

Smith makes sense for Cleveland, but not sure Cleveland makes sense for Smith.

Running back doesn't look like the Browns biggest problem. I'd focus on the line before taking another back.

Name one great QB who, A) isn't obsessed with football, B) takes public political stands, C) has constant talk of teammates hating him, D) isn't a natural leader.

Because the best QB's in the league, now and recently.....Brady, Manning, Big Ben, Rivers, Brees, etc. all are. If you aren't the unspoken leader of the locker room, it ain't going to work....Rosen has never been and will never be that.

I agree, although others may not, that the line needs some help. Hard to throw or run when the defense is in your lap from the snap. My thought on Barkley is that he has big play potential, which is something the Browns could surely use. He might also take some of the pressure off the young QBs the Browns seem to throw to the wolves on a yearly basis.

The Browns should worry about normal play potential before they move on to big play potential.

But, but Hue the offensive guru he is must not have the play makers he needs for this level of sucktitude....

"I don't want to get into the roster and if we're talented or not," Jackson said. "We're 0-16 and to make it more than that and to say the roster is or isn't doesn't do anything."
