2018 NFL Draft Talk Thread

The more I think about it, I think I'd go get Barkley, then Fitzpatrick or Ward and trade up from one of those 2nd round picks to about 24 and grab Price. OT from Oklahoma would be an option as well. Let's say they pick up Alex Smith or Kirk Cousins in FA. Would Browns fans like a draft that included SaQuan Barkley, Denzel Ward and Billy Price, regardless of any other picks if they also got that FA QB? Shit, I'd take that as a Dolphins fan and run around screaming!

Except that would require the browns taking not 1 but 2 Buckeyes. And both in the 1st round no less

I like this idea if the Browns in fact are going to take Darnold.
SB Nation's Dan Kadar spices up his latest mock draft with trades. After sending Darnold to the Browns at No. 1 and Rosen to the Giants at No. 2, he sees the Jets trading into the No. 3 spot and selecting Mayfield.

This is followed by the Browns trading down to No. 7 with the Buccaneers, who take Chubb at No. 4. The Browns, meanwhile, still get Fitzpatrick at No. 7, and get the Buccaneers' second-round pick.

"Like the Colts, a trade down could be a win-win for the Browns. Fitzpatrick is the type of player they need, and they'd now have yet another second-round pick. That could be used to make a move back into the first round. More on that later," Kadar wrote.

To solidify the defensive backfield, Kadar has the Browns trading into the bottom of the first round, sending No. 33 overall and a fourth-round pick to the Jaguars for the No. 29 pick, which they use to select Auburn cornerback Carlton Davis.

Or possibly if they take Rosen
DraftWire's Luke Easterling put together an ambitious four-round mock draft that includes trades. He sees Rosen going first to the Browns.

"While some might project the Browns to get cute here and wait until the No. 4 pick to take a quarterback, I don't see it. If there's a quarterback new general manager John Dorsey identifies as worthy of a top-five pick, the position is simply too important not to take that player here. Rosen is the most pro-ready passer in this year's class, and makes the most sense here," Easterling wrote.

After Barkley (Giants) and Chubb (Colts) are off the board, the Browns trade the No. 4 pick to the Jets (Darnold) and get the No. 6 pick (Fitzpatrick) and a third-rounder.

"This is a dream scenario for the Browns, who add another early pick, yet still end up taking the guy they probably would have targeted that their original slot," Easterling wrote. "Fitzpatrick's versatility will allow him to line up anywhere in the secondary, and the Browns have needs at both corner and safety that he could immediately upgrade."
33: Sony Michel, RB, Georgia.

35 (via Texans): Courtland Sutton, WR, SMU.

Would prefer Rosen but if I'm forced to watch the Browns choose between Darnold, Mayfield, Jackson or Allen.... then I'll take Darnold 8 days a week.

And since Chubb probably won't be there with a trade down (my next favorite player) why address our defense with a 'half need' like Minkah? We need a safety, a CB and help with the pass rush.
At that point, might as well try to secure a further trade down. Not too far, mind you, just far enough to net maybe an additional 2nd rounder. Around that spot go ahead and take Ward.

Williams tends to blitz himselfinto trouble on occasion so give me the guy I can isolate to the boundary, roll coverage the other way and say "your island now". From that point on take Marcus Allen and then in the 2nd address OT, Edge rush and another WR. That would help with the needs of this team more than a chess piece in the secondary without a home.
