2024 Coaching Search Thread

Jokes aside.

I'm going to be honest I am not a junkie fan of college basketball in general.

I will watch Ohio State when they entertain me.... Cane me as necessary

I want a coach that will win, yes, but can we commit to an attractive brand of basketball.

Obviously rhetorical but in the age of NIL on top of one and done. Maybe that's the draw

Good questions all. Don't know many of the names being tossed about, but if I was one, I would ask what kind of NIL is tOSU going to provide to build and grow a team here. And I'd bet the new AD is going to go to the NIL powers that be as well. I guess for a coach as well as players? Buy some players, make a splash, put some players in the league, and then leverage that with hard recruiting. Will be interesting to see how Diebs works out for the rest of the season, probably ending with the B10 tournament. Go Bucks!

His tenure at Texas was kind underwhelming. Since his Final Four run with VCU in 2011, he hasn't gotten out of the round of 32. Great name. A good coach? I don't know.
Smart at Texas: 0.559 non-conference; 0.477 conference; 3 first round NCAA tournament exits
Holtmann at OSU: 0.614 non-conference; 0.508 conference; 3 second round NCAA tournament exits; 1 first round exit

They may both be coaches that do better with less.

Once Jay Wright says no to us, I will probably be happy with anyone....new blood is desperately needed. It is great to see the women's team with sold out crowds so there is no doubt the men's team has the ability to join that.

I'd be over the moon to get Sean Miller or Pat Kelsey.
I was thinking Sean Miller as well but seeing he is in his second year at Xavier, I don't know what his buyout would be to get him. I like Pat Kelsey.
