#4 tOSU at Sparty, Thurs 2-25, 9 ET on ESPN

Still very proud of our guys last night. They played hard all night under difficult conditions. Anything else I have to say would probably just be echoeing what Holtmann said on his 2 technicals (whatever that was). Sometimes you can do a full body cavity search on someone with no call, other times you get a foul call for looking at someone. B1G refs.
Like I said last night, all I want is consistency. If you want you call touch fouls fine. You want to make it a WWE Hell In The Cell match fine. Just call it both ways. Last 4 minutes the Buckeyes were straight up operating under a different set of rules than Michigan State. You couldn’t breath on any driving Sparty player without getting whistled. Meanwhile Liddell and Washington got destroyed with no calls.

All that being said I assume the team played poorly enough to lose anyways unless the refs were just that horrible all night. I was only able to catch the last 7 minutes or so.

Refs fawked us tonight those lost 3 pts cost us the game basically.

Blaming a loss on a split-second 3 point call that happened with 5 minutes left in the first half is looking for excuses.

Buckeyes led 49-40 with 13 minutes left. Giving up 31 points in the final 13 minutes is what lost the game.

Yes, the issue with consistency is the issue but I am not sure you are ever going to get it in basketball due to how the rotate the officials. Basketball is the only sport that has this issue. Let me explain. During the game the ref that operates on the baseline when Ohio State has the ball rotates to the backcourt when MSU has the ball. The ref that was in the backcourt during OSU’s possession is now on the baseline. He probably will call plays down low differently than his peer. It is supposed to even out over the course of the game as they switch assignments at the half but in reality they never do.

What other sport do you rotate out like that? The home plate umpire doesn’t rotate with the field umps during the course of a game. They do not rotate until the next game. Baseball is just one example, but I can’t think of another major sport that has a potential for split personality given the rotation. I know why they do it as it is easier to travel basically the half of the court rather than have one ref travel the whole 94 feet and risk being out of position during some plays....just don’t know how to fix the built in inconsistency from one end to the other.

Really don't watch which zebras call or don't call the fouls. Wingate has a great point, but even so, should even out from first half to second half, as one travels to midcourt, but has under the basket responsibility, and the other the other, with the third traveling foul line to foul line. Ergo, say, the 'North' end of the court could call the touch fouls, while the 'South' end could let them slug it out. Unless I'm missing something, when the teams switch goals at halftime, they would be subjected to the other zebra (although the new shirts aren't flat out zebras, they're a bit muted). Glad to see Holtmann angry. Did his two T's cost tOSU points and possessions, yes. The game? Dunno. Go Bucks!

STFU, Hank. Go back to the Kentucky board, which is where you would be if they didn't suck ass.

Really dude ? What would you prefer me to say ? Oh good we lost or oh well I don't care we lost ?

I mean JFC I am bleeding my heart out here and the pain is real. It is a damn shame some of you don't understand how it is possible to root for more than 1 team.

You do understand if they don't play each other I want both to win with all my heart and soul right ?

The fact that some of you pull this BS and tell me to F off and go away because I like Kentucky too is redicioulous.

I am just as much a fan as Ohio State as you are and I probably bleed more for this team then most of you do even if they are my 2nd favorite college basketball team.

I feel much more pain and emotion then most of you when we lose you can tell by how I act in the games on my posts.

I am already pissed we lost and still pissed we lost and now you have to say this kind of BS to me. It makes me sick to have to come here and see that kind of post.

Tom Izzo believes Ohio State should still be a one seed despite the 71-67 loss to Michigan State

Michigan State got the best of Ohio State in a 71-67 battle Thursday, but Spartans head coach Tom Izzo stands by the No. 4 Buckeyes as a No. 1 seed for the NCAA tournament. After a third straight win — and second against a top-five team, following the 81-72 victory versus Illinois two days earlier — Izzo explained why MSU's result says more about the Big Ten than OSU.

"And I will say this, I love Ohio State's team," Izzo said. "I think (Buckeyes head coach) Chris (Holtmann) has done as good of a job as anybody in this league when you look at what he has and the size. Boy, I'll tell you, he's got a couple guys. (OSU sophomore forward E.J.) Liddell — he's a man, I really enjoy him. (Junior point guard Duane) Washington is really good and (junior forward Justin) Ahrens has been so good. They've got a lot of very, very, very good players that aren't maybe superstars but you talk about a connected group. It's fun to be down on the floor and listen to them talk.

"So there is no doubt they're still a one seed in my mind. Everybody doesn't realize that people are beating people in other conferences, but in our conference, there are so many good teams that there is never a night off. Sometimes you just wear down a bit. I'm ecstatic. I'm not sure we've had many weeks when we've beaten and No. 4- and 5-ranked team in the country, so I'm going to enjoy it for 20 more minutes."
