5 players suspended for 5 games in 2011 regular season (Appeal has been denied)

My dad graduated from OSU and the whole family was born in Ohio. I have had uncles and cousins play for the bucks. I was recruited by Bob Todd. Believe me I love ohio state more than the next guy. I am a coach now.

At the end of the day it is just a game. Ohio State will learn from this and the players will learn from this too. It takes people failing for others to learn from mistakes. The bucks will be okay!

I guess I should just ignore OSU football in general since they cause me stress and I can't control them. :wink2:

Congrats on the snow on Christmas though. Has to be pretty cool if you aren't used to it.

Yes it is rare here in NC.....didn't think I would miss it but the boys are having a ball in the backyard playing in the snow. What is really rare? Finding a true Southern boy that can actually drive in this stuff...
Truely worth the price of admission watching the natives try to drive in this weather....

They will definitely be ok. I think my posts sometimes come off like I'm super pissed or on the verge of jumping off a cliff. I'm not there.

(And I literally have nothing else to do right now, so here I am )

Again, you are simply stating conclusions: "It's stupid ... they broke the rules, start the suspension immediately ... blah blah blah."

Do you really think that a five-game suspension is NOT "a strong message that breaking rules won't be tolerated"? If that is truly the way you feel, then why don't you let us know why suspending them for the Sugar Bowl would make the "message" sufficiently strong. And please don't repeat "they broke the rules" because we already know that.

I'm not sure what to say. You break the rules, you're suspended. Ohio State did just this, until the NCAA came in and deemed them eligible for the Sugar Bowl. It's silly. Why on earth would the NCAA rule the kids eligible for the Sugar Bowl and push the suspensions into next year? Just because it is OK at Auburn doesn't mean Ohio State should take that path as well. I had zero doubt that Ohio State would have suspended Cam Newton until he was cleared of wrong-doing until this mess happened. It's disheartening honestly.

Under Andy Geiger Troy Smith is suspended for the Alamo Bowl and into the next year. Maurice Clarett was suspended for an entire season for fabricating a police report. But under this administration we'll just ignore the suspensions for the Sugar Bowl and push it into the 2011 season. We also get in front of the media and make up some BS about how economic difficulties caused these players to sell memorabilia while these same players are walking around with hundreds/thousands of dollars worth in new tattoos.

Forgive me if I feel our Athletic Department would have handled this differently under Geiger. Geiger certainly wouldn't have been up there making jokes about hiring a tattoo artist for the WHAC. And I honestly felt Tressel was a bit uncomfortable discussing why these guys might not have known the rule since the stance we took was "they weren't properly educated". It all feels fabricated between OSU and the NCAA and it's disappointing.

But they could still take the high road and suspend them for the bowl game, although it won't happen. If it were going to happen we would have just stuck with our initial compliance report and maintained the suspension.

It's stupid. Have some pride. They broke the rules, start the suspension immediately. Just b/c the NCAA wants a better game doesn't mean we can't take the morally high ground.
It's my opinion that the moral high ground for you is to stop posting this priggish nonsense. So I expect you to stop posting here immediately.

Because the only thing necessary for something to be "the moral high ground" is for somebody to say it is. Apparently.

I have no problem whatsoever with those whose opinion it is that suspending players for the Sugar Bowl would be better than waiting until next year. Unless and until they start self-righteously advertising this point of view as "the moral high ground" or other similar bullshit. You all don't have a monopoly on morality, so quit pretending you do.

One of the really great byproducts of this whole mess is how it has brought the entire fan base so much closer together.

 :pirate1:

if this had happened to Denard, I think the UM fanbase would have literally met in an ally somewhere and fought each other to the death. That's how much infighting there is right now.....LMAO

someone posted earlier that osu "would be fine." You guys are so freaking lucky to be where you are right now as a program. I can't remember the last time as a Michigan fan I thought to myself, "it's all good, we're losing 4 starters but we'll be fine because of the talent we consistently bring in around them."

Must be nice.....*sigh*

Snowed in New Orleans three times since I moved here in '83. It is like a demolition derby on ice skates. "Steer into the skid?????"
