well of course if you want to get techinical then ill throw in playing good defense, rebounding, playing smart, staying out of foul trouble, and playing with the full 40 minutes.

i guess you could also throw in about not taking of balance triple teamed game winners with tons of time left on the clock, having a press breaker on and on.

but i was just trying to simplify for all the dumb football fans on here :wink2:

You said MAJOR...

And after our last game I would say taking care of the ball is a major key... :)

but, ive seen lots of teams lose the turnover battle and win the game.

only twice have i seen the team with score less points and win (the one olympic game[granted that had some wierd clock stuff going on] and a jr high game i played in before the abacus was invented)

Well I did say 25 times...

I am not sure that has happened very often...

My 2 cents...(as requested by CBF40 )

NW is not the same team of last year. Losing Vedran Vukusic and Mohammad Hachad has crippled them offensively (the most they have scored all year is 77 pts vs Utah and W. Michigan who have a combined record of 13-22). They do, however, excecute a crafty Princeton offense, which their coach Bill Carmondy has had 6 years to perfect. If Ohio State cannot remain focused and disciplined on the defensive end, watch for Northwestern to make countless backdoor passes for layups. Also, NWU matches up in size fairly well with Ohio State, with two 6-10 players averaging more than 28 minutes a game. Oden should have his hands full with them.

That being said, Northwestern is not a good basketball team by any means. Although they have two big men playing a lot of minutes, they are averaging less than 9 rebounds a game between themselves. Tim Doyle, their senior point guard, is averaging a 2.16/1 assist to turnover ratio for the year, but Conley as a freshman is averaging 3.11/1, and that includes the Tennessee hiccup. Of NWU's 7 players averaging double digits in minutes played per game, only 3 are upperclassmen, so watch for young mistakes as well.

NWU has won more Big Ten games over the past 5 years than any 5 year time span since 1996-1970. Credit Bill Carmondy with heading this team in the right direction. Ohio State should not have all too much trouble defeating Northwestern tonight, especially with the fact it is a home game. Ohio State as a team is faster and more athletic than Wisconsin, and should match up better, in my opinion, to Northwestern and their style of play.

My prediction:
OSU 68
NWU 54

I wondered where you'd been, welcome back. As I posted earlier, 20 1/2 is too much spread IMO.

I agree as well, being a knowledgable buckeye fan. A college football coach earlier this year said that he only had the opportunity to watch one or two games played by a certain ranked team he didn't face, so he has no idea what the team is capable of. The same goes for the people who set the lines in Vegas. Seeing as the #7 team in the nation is playing at home against the worst team in their conference, 20 1/2 sounds fairly reasonable.
