#9 Wichita St +4.5 vs #2 tOSU (ov/un 129.5) Sat 7:05 CBS

Glad to see our guys go down fighting. In the end, you can't sleepwalk through the first 20 minutes of an elite 8 game. I'd hope our guys knew not to come out overconfident after watching Wichita beat Pitt and Gonzaga, but that first half was a trainwreck.

From the missed shots, poor rebounding, and weird forced shots from guys who have no business shooting, it was just bad and a bit unexpected. I always knew there was an outside chance they could have a bad shooting night, but for a guy like Shannon to play so outside of himself in the first half was surprising.

I'm already looking forward to next year. With or without DeShaun, this team looks very good on paper and I think they learned a lot about themselves during this win streak. Sam Thompson will keep improving, Shannon will keep improving, and hopefully Q doesn't get any too wild ideas and comes back. If DeShaun were to come back a starting line-up of:

Amir
Thomas
Q
Thompson
Craft

is nasty. Hope it happens. Otherwise slide Q up to PF and Lenzelle gets the start at SF. Still nice.

24% in the first half is comically bad.

Take a look at our three-point percentage for the game (kinda worse).

Just from their stroke, I think Q and Amadeo have the best outside shooting strokes on the roster. We need a consistent outside threat next year.

I kinda want to see Amir and Trey go at it for the starter's position. And curious about Marc Loving and Kam Williams' contribution to this roster.

We need these guys close, hungry and efficient next year.

If you think about it, we made it farther than UNC, Kentucky, UCLA, Indiana, etc (i.e. a bunch of Basketball Bluebloods). We're a great program.

Just need to put it together (I think we really missed something in Lighty and Diebler's last year and ran into a buzzsaw in Oden's year).

Congrats to Wichita State.

Congrats to the kids in the S&G as well. I'll admit I'm not anywhere near as knowledgeable about hoops as others on here so If I'm wrong please forgive me. For 30 minutes tonight what I think I saw was a tired, overachieving team that spent everything it had just to get to the Elite 8 this year. The last 10 minutes of that game IMO were played on guts and pride alone. I couldn't be more proud to be a fan of tOSU and the effort these kids showed tonight, and all season.

The thing that pisses me off the most is the ScUM fans giving shit for our failed comeback after we had to suffer through their successful one yesterday. Go Gators.

Well, since it's so rare that they can say shit about their team beating us, they have to take what scraps we give them...

How does every single player decide to shoot bad on the same day?
No clue.

The irony is that, if I wanted it to happen, it would be tonight. I figured they were do for a cold shooting night but I thought they were still good enough to eke out a win against the Shockers. They nearly proved me right despite being down by 20.

24% though. Shit that's "God hates you" terrible.

Now I'm going to have to watch the Louisville/Duke winner pummel this team into oblivion.

I am bitterly disappointed, but i really never thought this team would make the Sweet 16. Matta let slip that Craft was out on his feet in the iowa State game. They were exhausted and it showed. The 22-6 run was pure character.

There are no B1G teams in the Final Four because the B1G tournament needs to be completed a week earlier than the start of the NCAA.

Congrats to the team, especially for the character that was revealed after the loss to Wisconsin. :osu:

Shoot, they're talking about expanding the darn thing to include Double Byes. It's all about freaking TV and attendance (it adds another day to the thing).

Plus, I know Jim Delany won't want to give up that spot right before the Selection Sunday Show on CBS, so he's not going to move off of that. It also lends to the belief that the Big Ten will renew its deal with CBS (for basketball) and sign with FOX.

this may have already been said a few pages back and i apologize if it has....but to me this loss comes down to a few things:

1)no inside game - deshaun is it when he posts up
2)poor shooting - refer to #1, when you shoot under 40% and have no post game for offense you are going to lose to alot of teams
3)full court press - i saw it finally utilized effecitvely in the last 40 seconds....the commentators were also talking about how when wichita st got the ball in that was it, our press relaxed and backed into half court...maybe that was the plan but we should of pressed more
4)defense - our D tonight was marginal at best...alot of missed assignments and open guys for 3 after a rebound which leads to #5
5)rebounding - blown out...maybe the main reason we lost the game besides the poor shooting
6)foul shots - its hard to ask any team to shoot 100% from the free throw line but when its SG and SF's and you shoot 79.3% from the line and leave 6 points on the table it sucks...especially in 1 on 1's

great comeback tho by the bucks...we could of gave up a long time ago...proud of that...i hope everyone that can come back does, but i know this isnt going to happen....i see thomas and ross gone....we have to build from here and do the best we can....its going to be a long summer but as we all know football is just a short distance away

Disappointing game. I couldn't catch the second half, but OSU just couldn't afford to have the first half like they did. Bad shot selection in the first half (and I assume some in the 2nd) and it sucks that OSU lost to a team that I'm sure they could've beaten if they had played slightly better in the first half.

Overall though, OSU played great down the stretch of the season to get to where they got. Can't say enough about the job Matta and the team did to refocus and improve and you cannot take this run for granted.

As for next year, I'm not sure what to think. Depends on how much Williams and McDonald improve and if Ross and Thompson can step up to be consist double figure scorers all season.

Very frustrating loss, but a trip to the elite 8 is nothing to be ashamed of. And it's hard to be too upset when you lose a game due to the flaw on your team. This team is very erratic offensively b/c they aren't a great outside shooting team and they don't really have a low post presence. They didn't lose today b/c they got unlucky, they lost b/c they are flawed, and b/c they were outplayed.

Tip my hat to the Shockers and I'm already looking forward to next year.
