A note to fairweather Buckeye fans...

I'll boo the Browns. They're professionals and if they're clearly not putting forth an effort, and not at least trying to be competitive, I'm not going to lie, they'll get some boos from me.

The Bucks are amateurs. They're limited on how many hours they can be on the football field. They have other obligations.

I'm not going to boo Bauserman taking a sack because a walk-on fullback who's in the game because of an injury misses a blitz coverage...but I'll boo a WR making $800k a year for not blocking on run plays if it costs a turnover or no-gain in a key situation.

Simple as that.

The coaches are professionals, and the fans often boo their decisions (like today).

Broke my heart to hear OSU fans doing some stupid Urban meyer chant today at the game when luke called that FG with 3 seconds left

The best revenge is living well. I hope Fickell wins a couple of national championships soon, and Urban Meyer gets a job at South Central Louisiana State and loses 45 straight games. Well, no offense to Urban Meyer - I don't really want that to happen to him. But it would be nice to see those who were chanting for him to eat the same crow that they ate a couple of days before.

This isn't going to be a cheery thread to start. I just got off the phone with my brother. He went down to the game on Saturday. I was pained to hear some of the things he told me.

He told me that even though there were a ton of fans in the stadium, that there were many that left the stadium with 8-10 minutes to go. And he left embarrased to be a Buckeye fan. Not from their poor offensive showing but by the poor showing of the fans. Acting arrogant when we had no reason to be. Turning into the classless fans we despise.

Just when the team could use our fans the most, they were leaving the team high and dry. Granted the team wasn't performing to our usual standard, but for all that is in me, if I travel all the way to South Beach to watch my Bucks I am staying til the bitter end cheering them all the way. Not saying this was everyone (as he told me that 30% of the starting fans stayed til the end) but 70% leaving is unreal.

I am getting fed up with this new era of Buckeye fan. Spoiled as any fan could have been in the last 10 years and they act as if they are owed something from the university. They turn off newcomers to Columbus who never had an issue with tOSU before encountering the fans. I have lived through bad times as a Buckeye fan. I have lived through good times. But when the [Mark May] hits the fan I am going to shout I-O to every O-H. I am going to cheer my Bucks whether they go 12-0 or 0-12. And I am going to welcome others into my city the way I would want to be welcomed. Full of class.

It's time to be the best damn fans in the land. It's time for the bandwagon fans to leave instead of trashing what I was born and raised to love. If you are going to embarrass my university, I personally don't want you to be a Buckeye fan anymore. Go root for someone else. Oregon enjoys trendy fans.

I am saying all this to urge the fans who have been thru thick and thin with me to show up this week. Saturday is over. We have a young team that needs our help this Saturday going forward. They need to feel our unwavering support. Whether we are happy with how things have gone thus far or not, we need to show them why they decided to come to Ohio State. Tradition, Excellence, and The Best Damn Fans In The Land.

So I will start in saying that I believe in this team. I believe they can shake out of this stagnate start. I believe these players and coaches will make it happen. and if not I'll lose my voice rooting (not booing) them on.

How firm thy friendship.

:oh:

A Buckeye till I die. I don't get to many games (not since Eddie's last home game, btw) I ain't leavin til the fat chick stops singing. And I show my Buckeye pride win or lose. As Burt said in Smokey and the Bandit, "I only take my (Buckeye) hat off for one reason." :oh::oh::oh::biggrin:

Your post went wrong right there.

Haha, I guess you could say that. But they Browns played well Sunday...well enough to win.

My point is that in my opinion, it's classless to boo collegiate or amateur athletes. Much more is expected of professional athletes. Not necessarily winning every game, but I definitely EXPECT someone who makes a living playing a game to play it like it should be played. Anything less probably results in boos from me. :)

I have a method that works great for me. On game day I'll wear a Yankees/Patriots/etc. t-shirt but put my buckeyes shirt on over top of it. That way if the buckeyes happen to lose it's as easy as slipping off the buckeye shirt and I'm back to walking proud and talking smack to others.

I am guilty of some of the "Privileged" attitude. I never booed, that is like kicking your Mother, but I expected every year to be a NC under Tressel. What LF has brought back in me is the feeling I had under JT originally. I will watch every game and sit wherever I am watching every play like it is Overtime against Cry-ami Co-Canes.

I apologize for my arragance but I assure you I never once booed the Buckeyes! I am at your mercy for whatever punishment you see fit.

Luke, give them mother-fucking Sparties hell!!!!

Welcome back Fairweatheners.

I couldn't believe my eyes. Sitting in 24aa. People leaving with 14 minutes left down a touchdown. 4 people 3 rows in front of me. I got to voice my opinion of them on their way out.

"Thanks for joining us!!!Thanks for coming!!!"

With about 4 minutes left. I leaned over to my son and told him...

"True Buckeyes stay to the end of the game and sing Carmen Ohio at home. Do not leave until you sing Carmen Ohio... win, lose, draw, or embarrasment."

He looked at me and obliged.

... the only people that I understood leaving were the 2 older folks that were sitting next to us... The husband was about 70 and had trouble even standing up to let people out of the row. And they didn't leave until 3-4 minutes left. This after sitting in the conditions without moving otherwise the whole game....

I almost hoped that we would come back and win not just for the fact of OSU winning but to spite all those people that cursed Fickell and left with the whole fourth quarter to go.

Summer's heat and winter's cold..... How firm thy friendship...
