When exactly is that?

second, you have this infatuation with saying that im a virgin who lives with my mom. i dont know where this comes from. you, as an "adult" need to re-evaluate your life if you get into this much heat over somebody who likes both ohio state football and syracuse basketball. if i had 3 kids, i know i would have different priorities than you.

He's an ND fan, he needs a little excitement in his life.

I think there is a big difference in rooting for a university and rooting for a team. I am a fan of THE Ohio State University, but some people are a fan of tOSU's football team. Nothing wrong with that IMO. I don't consider them any less of a fan. I root for the Cleveland Browns and Cincinnati Reds...It's a similar situation because I root for the teams, not the city.

I don't see a big problem with this either. I root for THE Ohio State University, in all sports, but primarily football. I root for the UNC Tarheels in bball, or at least I did, for one reason - Dean Smith. That man has done more for that university and college basketball than anyone else alive. He's college basketball version of Woody Hayes, to me...now, I'll root for tOSU in bball as well, because I love tOSU, but I grew up with a love/hate relationship surrounding UNC and Duke, which is the greatest college basketball rivalry. I grew up playing basketball, and, all modesty aside, I was pretty damn good. What does that have to do with this thread? Absolutely nothing, but I wanted you all to know....

Here's what I don't understand: Why would a fan of one college go onto the messageboard of another school and insist that a fan of that school is not a true "FAN" because that fan is also a fan of a third school's basketball team?

We really don't need a Fan Nazi, Chief, especially not one who professes to be a fan of the Sisters of the Poor.

I happen to be a Georgia Tech fan because my grandfather taught there for thirty years and my dad went there and I grew up going to their homecoming games and laughing at Georgia fans. However, I went to see the Buckeyes play the Jackets in the NIT two years ago at Tech and cheered for the Buckeyes. Believe it or not, I'm ok without your official Fan Certification.

Good luck against Tennessee. I'll be a Volunteer fan this weekend.

27 - Well since you live with mommy maybe you can ask her that yes sometimes it is ok to spend some time doing things that us parents like to do!

I just spent the last 2 hours with my kids so now I can get back to messing with you! First off the stick fuck comment ! KNOW WHAT ONE IS before you call someone one cause you aint never fucked with your stick!

As for this thread no I am not the fan NAZI! This whimp 27 thought he knew something about CUSE and I proved him wrong then he started with his usual childish 23 year old name calling...

27 - I checked your post total and dude you should worry less about me and get a dang life...

Pro teams are one thing but if you are a real fan of one school that should be it...

What if you dislike your Bball coach because he cost your football team a good WR? If Bibby would've entertained Stanford's Evan Moore, we'd have a 6'7" tower for Leinart to throw to.

I was raised as a University of Dayton basketball fan and a Ohio State football fan. Now...i'm not a UD fan because Ohio State basketball isn't Ohio State's #1 sport. Ohio State obviously has a much better basketball program than UD. But in Ohio...when it comes to football...most of the state is Ohio State football fans because it just is SO BIG that it engulfs us all. I also went to Miami University...so I cheer for them too. Dayton doesn't even have a D-1A football team. So does that mean that I just can't be a D-1A fan...since I have to stick with one school. Miami University doesn't have a Men's soccer team...guess I can't be a Miami fan either if I want to like a soccer team. If what you say is true, a "real fan" can only be a fan of schools that have teams in all sports. You take a pretty cheap shot at attacking a fan because he likes different teams in different sports. That's how it is here in Ohio. There are lots of UC basketball, UK basketball, UD basketball, and OSU basketball fans...but ask them who they like in college football...and they all say GO BUCKS! That's because Ohio State has THE BEST football program in the country!!! And I truely believe that...you can't go to a game at The Shoe and leave thinking you haven't just witnessed one of the greatest sporting events of your life. I'm a real Ohio State football fan. I'm a real UD basketball fan.

your childish responses will be ignored by me from now on. you have a serious issue with name calling. just because somebody calls you a cum dumpster doesnt mean they think you are a piece of metal where people deposit their ejaculate.

good luck with your kids. ill be praying they dont end up like you.

PS - i think i made my point about being a fan

what is it that you proved me wrong about? when i said the cuse owns you? are you really that stupid? i said that like a buckeye fan would say they own michigan. its a fucking figure of speach you mental reject.

ok...starting..........................NOW

Chief,

I think I understand where you are coming from on this issue but I don't necessarily agree. My best friend grew up watching OSU football and Kentucky basketball. He knows the players of both teams up and down the roster and is no less of a true fan than I. I'm not sure he even knows why he watches UK roundball, he just grew up watching it. I'm not an Ohio State alumn and none of my parents or grandparents went to college. I'm a fan who fell in love with the teams because I watched it with my dad. He took me to games as a kid and I was hooked. Had he taken me to OSU football games and Syracuse basketball games, I could be a fan of both right now.

I also know people that love coaches. My dad loved John Wooden, and despite also being an OSU basketball fan, he told me stories of how he cried when UCLA's winning streak was snapped.

I can understand how alumni of a particular university can say that outsiders aren't at the same level of emotional attachment, but it really isn't true. I love sports in general, but I will never have another first game experience...and so the awe of the first time I walked in the 'Shoe will never be erased from my mind. I still remember how cool it felt to walk into my elementary school half a day late because my dad kept me out all night watching basketball at St. John arena the night before. Everyone has these memories and since, in college, there is so much player turnover...it's the tradition and the memories we live on.

I think that you can be a fan of any team that you are emotionally invested in. I don't think that you have to attend a University, or only be a fan of a single school to still have that attachment.

Good points gang and sorry for the tirade but if you go to the basketball thread you will see that I did not start thename calling war with 27 and I can prove it. The lad has issues when someone challenges him.
