Game Thread Akron at tOSU, Sept 3rd, Noon ET, ESPN

The offense looked far better than I thought they would today. We were pretty much running at will on Akron, something I haven't seen out of an OSU team in quite awhile. The WRs and TEs also looked great. Outstanding job by everyone.

Replaying several times, sounds like he said "I don't think that feels good, but good luck with the rest of the year"

That Akron coach needs To go cry in the locker room. We had in almost all freshman and walkons in on offense and were still destroying them. I can't believe he pulled that crap, does he not know fickell is fighting for his job?
If that is what he said, there is nothing to be mad about.

The thing that Akron's dumbass coach failed to realize is that Fickell had a huge audition today. He needed to assure the Buckeye nation that the program is in fine hands. Hell, his debut was above and beyond what I had hoped. I have no problem with a coach letting the boys play. His defensive style is to blitz...... Maybe it'll make Akron think twice before taking on the big boys again.
$400,000 says Akron won't think twice about taking another beating.

Well done Bauserman, Miller, Hyde, Smith, Stoneburner, the O line, the whole "D" especially all those young DB's who made the most of their opportunity.
And very well done to Coach, who had his team ready to go. Of course, they only played Akron but he had the team ready to play a solid game on both sides of the ball.

Next week is Toledo who is a favorite to win the MAC so that will be a tougher game. I know Coach will have them ready.

Great start to the season (and the Fickell era) today, and a great one for us too. Thanks to everyone who contributed (in one form or another) to our new servers. While traffic wasn't through the roof during the game, a lot of pages were flying through and the servers shrugged and asked for more (the db server didn't even register a tiny difference). It's nice/great not to have to worry about load times and having to shut services down during games -- so thanks and congrats all around.

I don't know about you, but that's a pretty good start to the Luke Fickell era. Stifling, silver bullet defense, and an efficient, hard-running offense.

If we can improve on the fundamentals, and get the perceived increase in abilities when Herron, Posey and company come back, this team looks like it could win the division.

I loves the corner blitzes... BUT I thought we showed them too early.

No element of surprise but still fairly effective against a crappy team.

i think it's amazing the offense looked this good in the 105 degree heat index or whatever it was.

nice to see T Graham get in there too.

Toledo will be three times as good as Akron. They are semi for real, picked to contend for the MAC championship. So, next week will not be this easy.
