Salley had a good hit on Reggie Williams in the 2003 opener against Washington.

I loved that hit.

"I remember two years ago, when Nate Salley hit a guy from Washington on the sideline. He almost knocked himself out. Nate was lying on the ground and we had to pick him up. The other guy was hurt worse than him." -- A.J. Hawk

3. Mike Doss had an incredible hit on a SDS running back in 2003 - the game that we held on to win. Anyways, he hit the running back at the line of scrimmage and knocked him backwards 3 yards.

Are you thinking of Will Allen? I don't remember the hit, but Doss retired from Ohio State following the 2002 season. Or maybe Ohio State traded him to the Colts or something. But the only game he played for Ohio State in 2003 was against Miami on January 3.

Will Allen was the strong safety the next year, and that was a close game against San Diego State.

Unfortunately I can't find a clip, but Keith Byars put a blindside block on Pepper Johnson (his roommate at OSU I believe) during a Giants-Eagles game that was unreal. I also second the nomination for the Zack Dumas hit:

I was at MSU for the Tito Paul hit, I was in the upper level and you could hear the crack from there!
Katz hit on Cory was the perfect tackle, he also had 1 his freshman year at scUM where he blasted an RB without ever leaving his feet, love that 1.
The Zack Dumas hit was the first big hit I can remember as a Buckeye fan, and it was a great 1.
I thought Kurt Kitner was dead after Doss bounced his head off the turf.

Not a "huge" hit but a very important 1 was Will Allen and A.J. Hawk hitting TA McClendon at the goal line on 4th and 1 in the 3rd overtime aginst NC St., gave us the victory in the longest game ever played at the shoe.

That Dumars hit was incredible.

Also, Steve Bellisari knocked the crap out of a UCLA defensive lineman in his first start at the shoe. It was a reverse play, and Bellisari ended up as the lead blocker.
