Better Late Than Never (split from C Grant)

Bringing up Big Ben, who was offered as a tight end, really helps your credibility, particularly with how far back you had to reach for that example.

If history was as great a predictor as you're claiming for the volatile world of recruiting, than Ryan Shazier wouldn't be a buckeye either.

Keith Wells, Orhian Johnson, Cameron Heyward, Larry Grant all decided very late. No one claims OSU dominates in January, just that preparing for the sky to fall is a pretty sad way to go through life. Enjoy the ride.

There's a reason I said that I think Curtis will still be a Buckeye. I also never said history is a great predictor, I just said we have a sad history.

None of the players you mentioned were elite recruits. Heyward was a 3 star, and Grant was a 4 star on Rivals and worse on other sites. Maybe I should have clarified that. Hicks, Henderson and Davis were considered elite recruits, depending on the service. I see you are an optimist. Although I would love it if Curtis came here, I am prepared if he doesn't.

You should have just mentioned Barksdale and your argument would have been golden. That was one heck of a DT we missed out on... With regard to Grant, I don't see how you can be anything but encouraged by the recent interview. To be tied with UF, after his UF visit is a great sign. Now take into consideration that he isnt from Florida and JT has an in-home visit left and things from my point of view at least look pretty good.

No, definitely, I am optimistic regarding Curtis. However, in the context of responding to a guy a little while back who told me to "come back to earth" regarding our chances, I agreed that we did have a bad history with late signing recruits but that I thought Curtis was coming here. Everyone who keeps calling me a negative nancy, look at the context of what I said. I think we'll get Curtis, Ejuan, and Aundrey to round out the class

Quinn Pitcock, Bobby Carpenter, Lawrence Wilson, Christian Bryant, Troy Smith, Marcus Hall, Kenny Guiton, Thaddeus Gibson... I could go on if you'd like me to, redguard.

Buck, like I said, OSU has a bad history getting late "elite" prospects. Ie the highly ranked 5 stars. Most of the guys you mentioned were low ranked and became stars here at OSU. This is most likely because Tressel is really laid back guy. I'm not criticizing the program, just pointing out a historical trend that I think we'll break here

Haha yeah don't worry, I'm relaxed. I may come across as a bit overzealous at times, but that is only my buckeye passion shining through.

Cincinnatibuck, you're forgetting Ben Roethlisberger, Anthony Dixon, Jordan Hicks, Latwan Anderson and a few other sure bet Ohio State signees who got away. I think Curtis is still coming here (hopefully) but we're at 1 for 5 in terms of prospects who declared in late january/early february.

No I didn't, those guys signed the first day players can sign their LOI. Pryor and Henderson were two players that were late signings (as you said) who had OSU offers. Declaring and signing are two different events.

Seems like there's a great split opportunity here, not that I would tell anyone how to do their jobs :paranoid:

IMHO, Grant getting out of UF without committing or publicly stating Gators as a leader is something to at least feel good about...

Did somoeone seriously call you a negative nancy? That's something you made up, isn't it? If a poster on BP called you a negative nancy I'm leaving right now and never coming back.

I could see Debbie Downer, but not negative nancy.

How about if he gets called that in the future?

I'll just hold onto that for possible use someday.
