Will be interesting to see where Ohio State goes from here. There's actually still a couple of really good backs left even in Texas this year.
No doubt we end with a couple of good backs in this class, just might have to wait a little longer to hear a commitment.

Wonder if we still heavily pursue two backs, or if we just try to find one guy who we think can be an all-purpose 3 down guy. With the class nearly finished, I wouldn't see the harm in trying to still bring in two, but ya never know.

As stated I am more concerned with QB depth and I’d be fine taking 1 RB and 2 QBs this cycle.

If Robinson had even the slightest doubt about his decision, he would've postponed his commitment. He's gone and he ain't coming back.

Well, JK will just have to go out and tear it up on the field, have say 800 yards+ by October-ish, and have the backup tailback have around 4-500 as well. Oh wait, we did that last year with JK having 1,100 (?), and Weber about 950-ish. WITH a qb who threw for 50 TDs. Hey Bjian, tOSU has a high powered offense. Stop one path and we'll kill you with the other. I envision that JK WILL tear it up while Fields gets his field generalship down, and JKs backup (whoever it will be), gets their share of yards as well. The Buckeyes have always had and should always will have great running backs as the backbone of the offense. (Heck, tOSU has the Heisman trophies for RBs to prove it) (and we missed a couple more by very little). Agree with the above (RB07?) that it's not over yet. We'll see how well Tejas does, versus tOSU offense/record this year. Stay tuned. Go Bucks

How can you predict what a HS player will do in college? By your rationale, Wisky settled for some bum named Jonathon Taylor...
You wont know what a kid will become until the kid gets on campus, and fans have to trust that the coaching staff did their due diligence and hope the player is willing to put in the work, in the Weightroom, position room and on the field. Derrick green to Zeke is a perfect example. I'm also sure that thestaff is bummed that they whiffed on Cam Akers and settled on that JK Dobbins fellow...

But you are trying to convince me it's no big deal that Ohio State lost out on two 5-star RBs. You can't work the argument both ways.

You can't, with 100% certainty. But all things considered, I'd rather have 5-star prospects because they are the most likely to succeed in college.

Recruiting rankings really do matter. If it were easy to win with 3-star prospects, then Iowa would be Alabama.

I’m not trying to convince you of anything...I wanted Bijan as much or more than anyone. Go look at my posts where I said multiple times that I think he’s the best Back in the class.

All I did was made a joke when @ShowMeBuck made a joke about Bijan setting Ohio State’s program back. Again, never tried to convince anyone that this doesn’t sting.

I'm fully aware that recruiting rankings matter. But I'm also aware that RB is one of the easiest positions to transition to from HS to college. If this were a QB or OL or DL, then I'd be more worried.
And it's easier to win with 3star RBs. But that's besides the point, because OSU isn't getting a 3tstar RB to replace Milton and Robinson. They will be most likely getting kids with other big time offers, and legit skills that fit our system. Similar to how OSU fans weren't certain about Marcus Crowley, but I assure you have no problems with him now, but yet he was never in the conversation as a "take" this time last year or one of the top RBs on the board

If this is in fact the case, then it is even more important to recruit 5-star RBs than any other position. If the transition is so easy, then a 5-star RB should be ready to plug-and-play from day one, no "coaching up" necessary. Instant reward, no risk, no waiting around.

You should be far less worried about star rankings with QB, OL, and DL, because years of "coaching up" is factored in with those positions. You can afford to take a risk on an OL, for example, when you know going in that his career path is going to be redshirt, two years as a back up, two years as a starter.

Ohio State brought in six RBs for official visits: Kendall Milton, Bijan Robinson, Jaylan Knighton, Sam Adams II, DeaMonte Trayanum, and Blake Corum. These are the six RBs that the staff wanted and thought they had a reasonable chance to land. That is their list, not mine.

All six of the aforementioned RBs have committed elsewhere. So now the staff is on Plan G. Do I trust the coaching staff? Generally speaking, yes. Do I trust the coaching staff to find a kid with "big time offers" and "legit skills that fit our system" as a Plan G recruit? No, I do not.

Zeke didn't take his official visit until December .... must have been a Plan Y guy. Can't really go by OV dates to make an assumption on who the coaches are high on, and what prospects are high on Ohio State.

Still a lot of time until LOI and there are going to be plenty of movement in the recruiting rankings from now until then ... we'll get our guys.

A history lesson: Way back in 2012, when Zeke Elliott was a rising senior, there were no spring official visits. Official visits were allowed only from beginning of September to end of January. Prospects often took official visits in December and January because they were, you know, playing football in September, October, and November.

It's pretty clear that the current staff tried to get all their top prospects to make official visits in June. It was a good plan, for the most part, as the staff netted eleven verbal commitments from those official visitors. For whatever reason, it failed miserably with the six running backs who visited Ohio State.

Will Ohio State eventually get a commitment from some running back somewhere? Sure. But let's not pretend that he was the guy that the staff really wanted all along, because he wont be. He'll be Plan Whatever....
