BP has two tickets to the Alamo Bowl for you?

Hubbard said:
Well Clarity you could number the ticket money tha tcomes and and jsut plug it into a random number generator such as this crappy one. What exactly are you looking for if not this? I will do more searching. I would also to encourage everyone to use paypal, but not limit it to that, it sure would makes things alot easier.
MS Excel has a random number generator function. It is an add on to the basic install. You just need the CD to install it if you have only done the basic install.

I can not go to the games as I am having surgery Friday the 10th and won't be in shape to go by then but I would be glad to purchase a ticket for $10 and if I win you can donate it directly back for somesone else to have a chance.

I should be home in a few days and I will be checking back to see what happens.

I think a BP raffle is an awesome idea! I'd definitely participate and would encourage any oOSU fans to participate too, just as long as they're members of the board. I think a raffle will generate more money that most think... just look at the Bowl Game Pool that we have set up. I'd be willing to bet that a lot more people would participate in this because the money will be helping the site.

I love this place, keep doin what you're doin Clarity.

Edit: Forgot to say that if I were lucky enough to win, I would have to give them away to someone else on the board of course for a small fee

The raffle is the only way to go... But better get that address up soon... I hate freaking paypal with a passion. How dare they not allow me to use them to put money into my poker accounts! But if you set up a NetTeller account let me know :wink2:

C-Dog,

I'd suggest you go the raffle route... however I would stipulate that a min. number of entries must be received (and paid for) in order for the raffle to work... that way you don't get left high and dry if not too many folks try their luck in the raffle.

I like the raffle .... I think a lot of posters would send you twenty bucks, and the tickets would go to someone on this site .... but I see the benefit of eBay ....
I have a feeling you would get more money from the raffle ....
I can't go, but I would buy a couple of lottery tickets.

IMHO

I'm waiting for them to verify my account, as soon as they do, I'll make this option available as well.

$10 is the recommended entry cost. I'm not going to turn someone away for $5, but I'll find a way to give your entry weight relative to the others. Which is to say that if you do $20, I'll enter you twice. Unless someone sees a downside to this. I haven't run a raffle before.

Entries will be assigned a number as they come in. I will make everyone aware of what number(s) they are before the drawing, which will be held on or around 6pm ET on Friday the 17th. If you mail your entry money, and it does not arrive before the drawing, I will give you the option of having it returned, or letting it stand. This time of year in particular, there's no shame in the former.

Number generation will be done by some as yet undecided means. The goal is to use some vehicle that is both public, and entirely out of my control. I suspect everyone here would be perfectly content with me sticking names on strips of paper and pulling them from a hat, but I'd prefer to make the whole thing as clean, fair, and honest as possible.

I'll post this in the "BP has two tickets to the Alamo Bowl for you?" thread, as well as a site-wide announcement which will run until the day of the drawing.

If you have any questions, please post them in the thread mentioned above, which is now sticky inside the main Football forum.

This drawing is open to any and all registered members of BuckeyePlanet, PLEASE remember to include with your payment (no matter how you make it) a reference to your username on the site. If the payment method doesn't allow such a note, then drop me a PM to let me know when and how you "bought in".

Thanks and good luck! And bring back some digital pictures so those of us who can't go are able to live vicariously through you.

Should be a great bowl, with a great opponent, and great fans all around. And again, profuse thanks to the user who donated these tickets.

i would suggest just having one set price buy in, say $10, like you suggested and have everyone who "buys in" have an equal shot at the tickets. If people wanted to "donate" more, then that's fine, but just b/c someone people pay more $ for more entries, they shouldn't necessarily be granted them, if we wanted to keep the odds equal for all entries. just my 2 cents.
