Oh, its definately an ongoing process, and its difficult to determine what should be a permenant fixture in your Buckeye room.
Some of the items have personal value and some have actual monetary value.
I too am just starting out on assembling my collection, so far I have:
My Ohio State flag, which has now been framed. This flag has been hanging on my wall since I was about 15 years old (Im 30 now) and flown outside my residence on every game day. No monetary value, but its been with me forever.
A Woody Hayes signed football, its a nice one with 2 white panels (that has the signature) and an Ohio State emblem.
A Archie Griffin signed football, same set up.
A 1920 Makio (Ohio State yearbook). Its cool because it old...and because it has a huge section on Chic Harley, and because it has a great section on the proposal for building Ohio Stadium with lots of drawings.

A project that I did for my brother was to make him framed pictures and cut autographs of every player that has won a heisman at OSU and every coach that has won a championship at OSU. Paul Brown, Woody Hayes, Jim Tressel, Les Horvath, Vic Janowicz, Hop Cassady, Archie, Eddie, Troy. All with Black frames, Gray matting with a scarlet mat over top. And the cut autographs are each centered underneath the picture. It really is the coolest piece of OSU memorabillia that I have ever seen.

On my Buckeye room wish list is:
A Paul Brown coaching tree and a Woody Hayes coaching tree. They would be HUGE, but it would be awesome to be able to show the incluence that these coaches had on the game. The Brown tree would basically have every coach ever in the NFL; the Walsh tree, the Noll tree, the Shula tree, ect.The Hayes tree would have the best of college footballs current coaches; Meyer, Saban, Bo, Miles, Holtz, Parsegian, ect.

And my holy grail would be a Chic Harley autograph, I have only ever seen one but the search is constantly ongoing. I will have that signature someday.

I hope to get mine started this spring. I plan to paint the basement walls gray and then do a helmet stripe across the middle. I have some large buckeye leaves for one wall. I certainly have enough memorabilia to fill the place up.

Sports card display

This is a display I built for my buckeye football cards. I used the official OSU gray paint from Home Depot and added the LED lights for accent lighting.

Less of a Buckeye room and more of an Ohio sports room.

I have an Archie Griffin signed jersey, Eddie George signed jersey, C.C. Sabathia signed Indians jersey (game-worn from his tribute night to Larry Doby), and a LeBron James isgned Cavs jersey.

I need to take LeBron down and replace it. Thinking about a Troy Smith signed jersey, Ted Ginn, or Chris Wells.

Who would you replace LeBron with?

A #2 jersey signed by Malcolm, TP, Doss, Carter and other #2s I'm sure I'm just not thinking of. :)

I'd probably go with Troy or Beanie though, realistically.. haha

That #2 idea is pretty amazing. A memoriablia trader should consider taking that up.

Theodore Ginn Jr. has always been one of my favorites...don't think we'll ever see someone that fast in a Buckeye jersey again. Troy is a close second and he won the Heisman. If we had won the 06' championship I think it'd be a no brainer. Beanie is a financial decesion truthfully. His signed Ohio State jersey can be bought for a good value, and his NFL career could become pretty solid if he can ever stay healthy.

All 3 would look good, and LeBron needs to come down. I can't look at it. Such a bitch. I like C.C being on the wall, but maybe once another Buckeye goes up, I find a new place for C.C and expand the Buckeye jersey collection. T.P. was a good idea as well...hadn't put much thought in that.

Malcolm and Doss are my two favorite Buckeyes of all time.. I'd be pumped if I had both of their signatures on a jersey. TP and Carter would just be icing on the cake. Really awesome icing.

I like Ginn a lot too.. but Beanie and Troy are right behind Malcolm and Doss as my favorite Buckeyes. Well, there are a lot more right behind those two, but still.

Whoever your favorite is. That's who you should put there. :p
