In Florida for the winter and decided to do a dry run on cutting the cord.

Tried PS Vue but had a problem logging on from my phone and with the quality of customer support I got I shit-canned it.

Running HULU with Chromecast now and like it. I actually prefer it as a way to manage the content I am interested in.

However, I need a FF function for sports. I can get that for another $15. Anybody had any luck with that?

We are paying Amazon Prime just for the shipping, so we have streaming there as well and I don't count that as a TV cost.

In addition my wife needs Outlander and I like Counterpart so we are paying $5 per month for Starz which we will cancel when those seasons end. Then will pick up HBO when GOT comes back and during that time catch up on their other series that I enjoy. Then cancel.

There is so much content with what I have now that I cancelled Netflix and may pick it up again when I dump Starz and HBO. If things work out I will stick with HULU and rotate the other services as described.

And when I get back home I will hook up an antennae for local stuff which will require I find some way to record.

But my days of either paying $200 plus to Spectrum or throwing a hissy fit to get it lower are done. And I can dump my land line that Spectrum insists I keep to get the exorbitant rate I am already paying.
I set up one of these https://www.tablotv.com/ with an antenna for recording the local channels. I have no complaints about it.

Thanks - I will look into those.

Not sure what level of effort you want to put into this but if you get good local OTA reception you can always setup an HD HomeRun tuner and connect it to your network. Setup a PC/laptop/server/nvidia shield/nuc/etc to run Plex and you can then use Plex to not only watch the live feeds coming from the HD HomeRun (Which is connected to your antenna) but you can also DVR and save it to whatever method of storage you prefer. You can then watch it from wherever you are able to access Plex which is basically from anywhere on any device now days.

I re-upped my Fios contract a few months ago for 2 years. Regretted it immediately. After needing a 3rd DVR sent to me to fix something broken, I'm ready to pay the $245 early termination fee and go with either Vue or Sling. View doesn't have the Nickelodeons.....which is kind of weird and almost a deal breaker. But I can get those shows by other means, so fuck you Verizon.

That's what we do. We have Vue and then use the Nickelodeon app via other means.

Update: I have PS Vue and am reasonably content with it, although they just raised their price again.

Sling now has the NFL Network, NFL Red Zone as well as MLB Network. Those are the only channels that are deal-makers/breakers for me.

What I think I'll do is wait until football season starts and then pay the $15 for a month of Sling and see how that plays out.

Subscriber losses mounting for AT&T. 778,000 customers cancelled premium services last quarter. I'm terminating my U-verse at the end of the present billing cycle and going to PS Vue on Apple TVs throughout the house.

Called AT&T to cancel TV & Video portion of my service. Well, their customer retention department offered to extend my existing service for $27/mo for the next 12 months. $27 a month for the U200 service! They're giving away TV at a loss just to stem the tide of cord cutting losses.

Wish Spectrum cared that much about hanging on to customers. You call to tell them you're dropping in my area and they just go "okay, good luck." Of course they don't care, because your internet only rate goes up by like 50% when you unbundle.
