Cavs 09-10 Season (official thread)

OK, so the Knicks might get him anyway. But... they don't want him for his expiring contract, they want him for actual basketball?

for this year yes...but after the season ends he will not be in a knicks uniform no matter what they say...they are trying to offer lebron as much cash as possible...which is still not as much as the cavs can with our bird rights...i think we can offer him up to 10 million more...Windhorst has always said jamison is a character guy and i love the fact he is coming here...heres some info on what he had to say

New Cleveland Cavaliers player Antawn Jamison expected in town today but is doubtful to play tonight against Denver Nuggets | Cleveland Cavaliers - cleveland.com

"That's what it's all about, getting a chance to put myself in a position to win a championship," Jamison told the Post. "Just happy that I'm getting my opportunity to fulfill my dream, which is to go deep in the playoffs and win a championship.
"It's not weird now. Knowing those guys and knowing how much we didn't like them and the battles that we had and the most important thing, coming up on the short end of the stick. But to be a part of it now, it speaks volumes."

wouldn't it be a hoot if somehow Drew Gooden ended up here too.. after he gets a buy-out

Who are you going to cut to bring in Gooden? They will already have to cut someone in order to resign Z if that materializes. The team is definitely not short on 4's right now. I bet Gooden goes back to the Mavs to play with his beard buddy.

I wouldn't want him back even if he tried to crawl back on his hands and knees. Also, it looks like Powe is about ready for some primetime action.

Everyone seems to be giving props to Ferry but I think the real props should be given to Gilbert for his willingness to go semi deep into his pockets. There are a lot of guys out there who have the money but just like to keep it for themselves.

I definitly give Gilbert credit for spending the money, but I don't think he is forking over his own cash for this. I'm pretty sure the Cavs are still turning a profit even though they have one of the highest payrolls in the league. That's one good thing about Cleveland they are willing to lay down cash to support a good product. As long as Lebron is a Cav and they are one of the best teams in the NBA the money should keep rolling in. I would hate to see what a hard salary cap would do to the NBA.

Martin isn't doing too hot this year.

Great deal by the Cavs to get Jamison. His best statistical year in terms of FG% was with the Mavericks when he played less minutes than any other season (29), although he took a lot less 3's which I think will be the same role he'll have here.

The Cavs are really stacked now, and if you can get Z back in a month...damn.

Boobie Gibson is playing better than he ever has, Jawad Williams is playing good, Powe is gonna get in the mix, Mo comes back soon, Delonte just came back, Parker is shooting 45% from 3. And we have the KING. We seriously go like 13 deep. Lebron makes his teammates so much better and is the best player in the game. We're bout to get that 'ship this year.

GO CAVS!

He's been injured. Not to mention, Tyreke doesn't know what the word "Pass" means.

If Anthony Parker takes one more shot off the dribble... I'll have a candidate...

I get what you're saying and I agree but Gilbert is still just looking out for himself financially. He has to spend all of this money to get Lebron to stay here and we all know Lebron resigning with Cleveland means $$$ in his pocket. This is exactly why Lebron put the pressure on him by constantly saying things like "I just want to play for a team that can win championships". He doesn't want Gilbert to just pocket all of the profit Bron is making for him.

Stupid trade by the Kings. Kevin Martin is the most underrated scorer in the league.

Glad a Zanesville kid could get to a team that might contend at some point in his life though.

My brother played AAU ball with Martin and always had great things to say about him, on and off the court. Glad to see him go to a better team.

Yeah, he is forking over money from the Chinese investors that bailed him out last summer.

There was an article I read in the fall, don't recall where. But Gilbert supposedly went into the red last year. And the one reason the Chinese investors were brought in was because Gilbert didn't have the cash flow to keep doing what he is doing.

But Gilbert HAS to do this because he knows he would lose a shitload of money if LeBron left the Cavs cause his investment would be worth pennies on the dollar.

Wizards talking to Heat and Jazz. Z might get traded again. That would suck.
I've read a lot of this "sign", "trade", etc. talk is so that this whole deal between the Cavs/Wizards won't look like a complete "set-up."

Apparently, enough has to be done to make it (buyout...back to Cavs) appear genuine, so that David Stern doesn't get made a fool by the system.

cleveland will have a much lower payroll next year, so gilbert will be back to turning a profit in no time.
