Cbf40's look at '11 recruiting

The 2011 skill positions must be real hard to rank. I don't hear much about this class very often I'd appreciate some good insight on players that stood out during the season and 2009 combines/camps.

Well, with a name like that, what can you share with us?

Darien Bryant (TE, Reynoldsburg) was named overall MVP at the West Virginia University camp earlier this week.

"Bryant ran a reported 4.6 40 and vertically jumped 31 inches with two strained Achilles tendons and a sore knee." WVSports.com (Camp Notes, Tuesday - 4/16/09)

Early look we have a decent number of offers out, decent number of out of state names, and then some instate guys... Just put a list together with names and guys with offers...All guys without states by their names are from Ohio...Hoping 2011 can be a big time class...We should get the lure with Miller being a big time QB, and hopefully the other Miller, Grant, Depriest, Rock, Hayes looking to be the top 6 in state at this early period, and Cash looks to be a big one out of Florida we have a good chance with...

QB - Braxton Miller
QB - Everett Golson (SC)
QB/WR - Teddy Bridewater (FL)
RB -Robert Walton
WR - Karlos Williams (FL)
WR - Shayne Wynn
WR - AJ Jordan
WR - Tyler Williams
WR - JeRyan Butler (AZ)
TE - Ben Koyack (PA)
TE - Darien Bryant
TE - Ray Hamilton
TE - Nick O'Leary (FL)
OL - Chris Boles
OL - Audrey Walker
OL - Tyler Moore (FL)
OL - Cyrus Kouandjio (MD)
OL - Chase Hounsell
OL - Donavon Clark
DE - Steve Miller
DE - Kenny Hayes
DT - Chris Rock
LB - Trey Depriest
LB - James Vaughters (GA)
LB - Andre Sturdivant

Some think that if Cash was offered it might be over....Nick O'leary IMO is a kid we gotta chase hard. He told a USF insider he was up to nine offers, and he's a junoir to be. Would love to see the staff go over him hes a big time tight end for sure...

My (very) early top 10 for Ohio:
1. Braxton Miller
2. Steve Miller
3. Chris Rock
4. Doran Grant
5. Trey DePriest
6. Donovan Clark (admittedly this is going off of Duane hype on my part)
7. AJ Jordan
8. Shane Wynn
9. Kenny Hayes (wad hype this time)
10. Tyler Williams

As a guy who covers Colerain football and somebody who loves Tyler Williams...Jarret Grace is the cream of the crop at Colerain in the '11 class. That is not bad mouthing Williams who I believe will play major d-1 ball. But because Grace can grow into a DE combined with his toughness, speed and intelligence (currently in the top 10 academcially in his class while taking all honor and AP classes), he's a 'can't miss'...
Think "Tyler Moeller" with size.

Does Grace like OSU? I've heard that he's really interested in UC all that much, and Colerain has been pretty Buckeye-friendly...

As for a Top-10, It starts with Miller-Miller-Grant. IMO, any of those guys could be #1 in the state. DePriest is a solid #4. The rest of the top 10 is up for debate, and '11 seems to be LOADED with top talent. Although, I'm not sure either Wynn or Ty Williams are top-10 guys; at least, not OSU guys. Good athletes, but not good enough to compensate for how small they are, ie Trindon Holliday or Brandon James.

UC's the only school that offered him so far and I don't think he camped any where this summer. I am pretty sure all schools are equal at this point but I, in my opinion, would put OSU as the school to beat should an offer come his way...and I do hope it comes this year before the season is out.

Pretty much agree with you about Ty...Now, Durham, on the other hand, should be included on some sort of 'to watch' list.

I meant to say he's not into UC all that much. typo

Good to know that he likes OSU. I can't imagine an offer won't come his way if he's as good as everyone says...

Thanks for the heads up...Grace was a name I had forgot about. I'll try to watch some film when it's up. I'm really hoping both Wynn and Williams can grow, because they are just so talented.

One guy that we don't have to worry about hitting a growth spurt is Aundrey Walker out of Glenville. Could be the top o- lineman in the state next year and someone that will certainly be on the Bucks radar.

Wynn is still an offer if he is in the 5'8 - 5'9'' range IMHO...

I think so too, even though history doesn't support me...no way we pass on him imo. As far as Walker goes, he could end up being big time too, as well as Sturdivant. Glenville is going to have a loaded '11 class and I can't wait to see all the film. The only player I've seen much of is Wynn and he was just off the charts athletic. He is a special teams nightmare but he has great potential as a slot receiver, as he has actually played the position and has tremendous hands. I'm going to try and catch the Iggy vs. Glenville game this year.
