Cbf40's look at '11 recruiting

Might we have an extra ship should the Turner situation not work out this season?

Asking as a Cardale fan...

That's a good question, and I'm curious to see an answer. But IMO, IF the Turner situation doesn't turn out positive, than we should go after another OL/DL or DB. I like what we saw from Guiton on Saturday, and hopefully we can work with Reed's passing ability too. I'd love to see both of those guys competing at QB with (hopefully) Miller. It doesn't seem like we need another QB, UNLESS we don't get Miller. As much as I too would like to see an offer go to C Jones, from the feedback I've been steadily getting from the senior members of this board, it doesn't seem like he'll get an offer.

qb sitch

I see posts talking about need for Quarterback --- we still have Kent Graham's son committed, right?

I know we aren't supposed to worry about overstocking, but I hate to see a good QB sit on the sidelines for redshirt year, two more, and then transfer.

There is probably another thread about our QB situation - I'll go look.

IMO, QB finally seems adequately stocked with at least capable to potentially great players:

'08 Pryor
'09 Guiton
'10 Graham
'11 [Miller]

don't forget about Reed in the '10 class, I know everyone says safety or DB but never say never until he's graduated.

True... Verlon is definitely a wildcard... that being said, with Guiton reportedly a greatly loved teammate and, for lack of better words, 'lucky' to have gotten the OSU schollie when he did, and with Graham a legacy... I'm hopeful that this group will remain intact for the duration of their eligibilities

Someone please read this post to NJ-Buckeye. He went to Hoban so he cannot read nor does he know what a competitive high school football program is all about.
I think I just threw up a little bit in my mouth...

In the last 15 years, Hoban is probably 14-1 against the make-believe Irish of SVSM...

This fall, you can bet tOSU will be spending their time at Knight Stadium.. looking at a VERY impressive set of DE bookends to their 2012 class... write it down

Time for an update, not much movement since last time other than Miller and Bennett in the fold now, and it is really pretty simple at this point. I say we go to 22, which gives us another 10. I have 23 on my list. Don't see us stretching that far, too many studs in in the 2012 class. Someone will get left off, maybe a 2nd lb, a 5th db, 2nd TE, 3rd DE, 3rd DT...lots of options.

Also with Miller in the bag we could see some big name guys maybe think about jumping in the mix.

Qb - Done
RB - No
WR - I like Wynn and Spencer (other names thrown around, Dorsett, Story, Smith, Arnett, etc.)
TE - Vanett or bank it
OL - Walker fnishes it off I believe, maybe Mangiro as a 6th
DL - Sturdivant (as long as Grades are in order) and Hale...Maybe for McReynolds
LB - Too many good things for DePreist to go elsewhere, Still have Vaughters and Crowell we are recruiting. Tress will find a way to get 2 he always does.
DB - I believe we land Grant and Tanner and one more of a long list of guys. (Gorman, Kirby, etc.)

QB - Miller
WR - Wynn
WR - Spencer
TE - Heuerman
TE - Vanett
OL - Brown
OL - Bobek
OL - Underwood
OL - Carter
OL - Walker
DE - Hayes
DE - Miller
DE - Sturdivant
DT - Bennett
DT - Farris
DT - Hale
LB - DePreist
LB - Vaughters / Crowell
DB - Cash
DB - Gambrell
DB - Grant
DB - Tanner
DB - Kirby

Shaping up to be the most straightforward recruiting season in some time.

To me, this has the feel of the 09 class recruiting cycle. A majority of the class in place by camp season. Not alot of hand wringing over OL and DL recruiting. No stud RB's this time, but exciterment at the QB position instead. What will be interesting to see is if there is a big national recruit{ala Taj Boyd) who comes onto the scene late and adds some drama to finishing the class.

Same here. Farris, S. Miller, Hayes, Cash, Bobek and most importantly Braxton Miller make a ridiculously strong base. The supporting cast is solid and addresses positions of need. Only big names I see getting dramatic is maybe a McReynolds down the stretch, which would be gravy on top of a filled position in any event. At this point, I am wildly optimistic about this class.
