Whole story is below.

How does Charlie Weis get recruits to consider coming to Kansas? He doesn't sugarcoat things, that's for sure. Check out his unvarnished response to a reporter's question at Big 12 media days regarding what he says to potential prospects.
"Have you seen that pile of crap out there?" Weis asked. "If you don't think you can play here, where do you think you can play?"
The Jayhawks went 1-11 in Weis' first season as head coach, so he has a point. His statement is a crafty way of implying that he inherited a lousy roster and that the dismal record was not reflective of his coaching ability. Plus, many recruits want to know whether they'll have a chance to play right away and Weis is smart to let them know that.
However, it's not the first time he's said something that could be perceived as him throwing his team under the bus. His blunt, deprecating style might make the media happy, but it probably doesn't go over well with his players.

Same fucking tune every stop. It's always the previous guy's fault.

Right up until he needs to blame them and throw them under the bus to excuse his lack of coaching talent.

But never self-deprecating. This guy makes Saban look like somebody you'd want to buy a drink.
