Cincinnati Bearcats (Juggalos official thread of Faygo)

And who in the Big 10 other than OSU and PSU would not have had their hands full with Va Tech last year?

Again, wake up to the fact that there's a lot of good football outside the Big 10. I'm not a Big East/UC fan, but aside from the big 3 and Iowa the rest of the Big 10 teams have been mediocre. BC would have held their own over the last ten years with Wisky, Minnie, Ill, MSU, NU, IU, Purdue
I don't dispute that. I believe they're overrated too. BUT if they don't get beat tonight or down the road they stand a reasonable chance of being rated above the Buckeyes. Is that fair or accurate?

I can guarantee they won't get beat tonight.

Tomorrow, maybe not. :wink2:

LSU - agree
Penn State - UC wins IMO
Oregon - maybe, but I think it might be closer than you think
Oklahoma - I tend to agree, but I have not seen Okla play a good game yet. They were very overrated.

The rest is a coin flip. So I think top 15 for sure. But again, that is darn acceptable for the UC program.

You seem to be putting a lot of stock into the fact that they're undefeated, all the while ignoring the struggles they've had with some mediocre to really bad teams.

And just where were the Buckeyes until Navy went for two?

I love me some Buckeyes, but let's put the world in some sort of perspective; the Big 10 is down. The Pac 10 is seldom more than USC/UCLA. Right now the best, most inventive football is being played outside the Big 10 and the best traditional football is being played in the SEC.

There can be a lot of reasons for this, not the least of which is the shift of economic power from the Midwest to the coasts and South, but Big 10 football is slipping.

And I wouldn't be surprised if they pounded USF into the ground. While I think Cincy's offense would struggle to move the ball against Ohio State's defense, USF is not in the same league. The Bearcats are a lot like Texas Tech in that their offense will look pretty against a mediocre defense. Against a good defense, they'd be exposed.

Computers like Massey have USF's defense ranked #10-#15. They are #1 in takeaways (4.0 per game) and #2 in opponent red zone scoring (60%). Not Ohio State, but not the kind of walkovers that Cincy has played so far. They haven't seen a defense in the top 30. USF's defensive line has the ability to get after Pike and change his performance.

It's a good matchup because Cincy has a top 15 offense and defense on paper.

The problem is that neither team really played anyone yet, so who really knows?

I think the Miami Ohio game showed us something about Cincy. When you consider that Cincy had to run in two late TDs to flatter themselves on the scoreline and that, barring a rather lucky interception, Cincy would have been behind to start the fourth quarter--and that Northwestern scrubs allowed Miami Ohio to score only in the final minute--I think that if I am USF I'm thinking I can take them. Dunkel has USF as a 5.5 point favorite.

So, we'll agree to differ and time will tell us whose crystal ball lied most! :)

How any Buckeye fan can try to discount winning a game, regardless of how ugly it was, is beyond me.

No real dispute here, but what Joe Pollvoter looks at is Ws and Ls, not who plays whom. To most of them all the bowl games, except the NCG, are relatively equal.

Joe Pollvoter is an idiot. Cincy is a nice story and they should be thankful to have some of the spotlight. But Ohio State is big-boy football and Cincy ain't.

That's not being disputed. Joe Pollvoter is frequently an idiot, but he's also the guy who gets to say who is #7 and who is #8.

The last time I checked, Navy was about 10 times the team that Miami of Ohio is.

Do you work for ESPN?
