Facons v Bengals:The NFL Network replayed the game at 7:30 local time so I watched it without knowing anything that happened.

Pros: The kicking game continues to look solid. McPherson continues to be automatic and Robbins looks as good as advertised.
His kicks have great distance and hang time. Iosivas looks great, he's like the second coming of Houshmandzadeh. Our other rookie wide-out Charlie Jones looked pretty solid too.

Cons: The backup QB position is still an open wound. Siemian looked decent in his first drive bringing the team down the field. He was very hit & miss after that. Browning played the 2nd half and had a few good tosses and timely runs but there was no consistency with either signal caller behind center. The starting defense looked a little rusty as you'd expect but they did keep the Falcons starters out of the end zone with a timely interception. The rest of the night was pretty boring with neither team playing particularly well.

Overall, the Bengals continue to lack efficiency and consistency. A lot of that can be attributed to Zac's decision not to play most of our starters, especially on offense.

We can only hope when Burrow finally gets behind center he lifts the whole team. If he misses significant time we're in trouble. At least until they solve the backup QB question.

I know we brought in Trevor, but Browning is head and shoulders above him imo. Browning can get us a couple wins if we need it with the rest of the starting offense around him. I think he's got the stuff with his scrambling ability and improvising.

That said, I think the Burrow injury talk is a facade and he'll play against the Browns come Week 1. We've got a loaded roster and it's encouraging to see Money Mac get his confidence back. I like where we're at.

I agree RB07OSU. I had forgotten Browning was the Huskies QB when we beat them in the Rose Bowl in 19'. He's looked much better than Siemian in the preseason.

I would imagine they'll try and put Siemian on the Practice Squad and keep Browning on the 53.

Turns out the Bengals agree with us both, Siemian just got cut. Other notable cuts were Trent Taylor, Adeniji, Asiasi, Michael Thomas and Chrisman.

Ceiling: 14-3, win Super Bowl

Back-to-back AFC Championship Game appearances (including a Super Bowl appearance) have Cincinnati as a Super Bowl contender once again. This is what to expect when the Bengals have a franchise quarterback in Joe Burrow throwing to Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins every week. Joe Mixon restructured his deal to stay in this offense, which also took Orlando Brown away from the Kansas City Chiefs in free agency. The defense gets better under Lou Anarumo every year. Cincinnati is the biggest threat to dethrone Kansas City in the AFC -- and win it all. This may be the Bengals' best chance.


Floor: 11-6, lose in divisional round

There aren't many question marks on the Bengals, although they are going young in the secondary. No more Jessie Bates at safety means Dax Hill and Nick Scott are in charge of replacing that production. Are Chidobe Awuzie and Cam Taylor-Britt good enough at cornerback? Burrow's injured calf also lingers, but the Bengals overcame a slow start last season to reach the AFC Championship Game. This team will be battle-tested in the AFC North, which will help prepare for a gauntlet of a playoff.

Didn't realize this, but this game will mark the 100th Battle of Ohio against the Browns. Let's honor it in style with a win. I am so pumped on this team, Taylor said it is the best we have had and I share that sentiment heading into the season. Obviously stacked at QB and the skilled positions, OL should be pretty good at this point, and the front 7 on defense is stacked and also deep, which should help a mostly young secondary. Even on the secondary, you have quality veterans like Awuzie and Hilton, but I have really liked what I have seen from Dax, CTB, Battle and to some extent Turner. Even Ivey showed out and there is good reason he made the roster.

Aside from that, following the Bengals on Instagram it is clear they are really close and we have a lot of quality people, which has been lacking in the past. Don't know if anyone saw the video that is going viral, but Tee Higgins was at a meet and greet with fans to take pictures and sign autographs that had a hard cutoff time. There were several fans in line and when he was walking out someone said that the venue told them the event was over...without hesitation he just walked back in and made sure he met with every fan. Freaking awesome.

With a lackluster game against YSU approaching, I can't help but be more excited about the impending Battle of Ohio and Bengals football starting. Who Dey!

Shirley you have all heard now that Joey B is the highest paid player in NFL history (for now). $55M / per year for 5 yrs, $219M guaranteed. As long he starts investing now in a broad market index fund, an annuity and maybe some bonds sprinkled in, he should be okay.

Guess we were never going to win this one. Pouring rain to screw the passing game, rain clears up right when Cleveland can go on a drive at the end of the second half, everyone is super rusty. Move on to next week and be way, way better.

That's all true, but I am more optimistic about the 2nd half. Much like the first Steelers game last year. I think Burrow was much more effective in the 2nd half in that game. I love Dawand, but maybe they will start running around him to get consistent pressure.
