Cleveland Browns (2012 season)

That's the problem. There's no Calvin Johnson or AJ Green out there this year. I'm all for the defensive stud.

I wouldn't mind a Keenan Allen, Woods, Justin Hunter.. provided someone is available in the 3rd.

It's rather consensus at this point that a defensive stud is our priority. No top flight CB either, might as well upgrade the pass rush. Every good team has that thing they do well, the dominant phase of their game.

The Giants its the front 4. Houston its the running game. Pittsburgh its their rush defense.

The one thing the team hangs their hat on. I'd like to see this team take the Dline from 'good' to greatness. Health permitting, its a very solid unit.
Especially against the run. Give them a DE that can dip his hips, turn the corner or make a move inside against obvious passing downs and the secondary will magically get better. This draft appears heavy in defense, which works all to our advantage for a team starving for more play-makers on that side of the ball.

What Haden and Patterson need to do this off season is focus on getting 100% healthy. If there just so happens to be a decent tier CB in the early 2nd round. Bundle a pick or two, trade up and get him be it Rhoades, Roby (although I'd prefer him to stay) Milliner (who might make a better FS) or that kid from Rutgers (can't remember his name, its 6:30 in the morning)

The oline has taken a large step forward. Lavaou hasn't been total garbage. Crego? Grego? He's been solid. Schwartz is getting better. Joe & Mack are consistent. JT, much like our secondary - needs to focus on getting healthy as well.

I'd like to go out and say this now. Greg Little. I don't see the show boating after catches now. He's made some outstanding grabs this season. Yes, yes... he's had drops. But the past 2 games he seems focused, business like. His physical skills are hard to match, which was why I was very pleased with the pick. If he continues to be this determined, focused, giving 110% - our WR's corps could be a strength come next year.

Throwing more youth at the wr spot certainly isn't the answer. a few weeks ago there was some story about greg little having a long heart to heart talk with alonzo mourning of all people. he now seems like a different person. maybe the switch has been flipped? but if you get that greg little each week, along with the development of gordon, and a playcaller that isn't a functional retard, the offense might start moving the ball.

this draft needs to be all about defense. they can get a DE in the 1st and a starting safety in the 3rd with the way this draft sets up. a lot of the cb deficiencies stem from the FS being total garbage. but they definitely need to address the cb situation in free agency, much like the WLB spot.

I'm well aware youth at WR isn't the answer. I was just mentioning the possibility of a mid-round prospect. The WLB/DE will be addressed by Jarvis, quite simply. Regardless if we beat Pittsburgh at home, I don't see us being able to cover DHB & Denarious Moore against Oakland.

Probably get a W against KC. That's about it. 4 wins max. Meanwhile the Saints are hot, Tampa Bay as well. Jacksonville, Carolina, KC & Oakland (maybe St. Louis) are the biggest competition for a top 5 spot.

IF Jtown plays Henne, they might do something stupid and win a game or two. I can't see Carolina not winning at least 2. KC is FUBAR. The Rams will get at least 1 W. Putting them at 4.

We'll draft top 5. Which we Oh, so need.

I don't know this could be a Cleveland win with 39-year-old Charlie Batch trying to throw the ball. The Browns might be able to commit 9 guys to the LoS to stop the Pittspuke running game. The only problem is I don't know if the Browns can't score any points. That Sunday game might end up in a 6-6 tie.

Baltimore only got, what, 13? It could be a 3-3 tie...or a 0-0 tie...

I cannot believe this:crazy:
BEREA, Ohio -- Cleveland Browns safety T.J. Ward has been fined $25,000 by the NFL for his hit on Dallas receiver Kevin Ogletree during Sunday's loss to the Cowboys. Ward plans to appeal.

Ward was flagged 15 yards for unsportsmanlike conduct after he made contact with Ogletree's helmet. Ward's hit forced a head-to-head collision between Ogletree and Browns defensive back Buster Skrine. Both were lost for the rest of the game, Skrine with a concussion.

well, I can't believe this either and it might even be crazier
CLEVELAND, Ohio - Sheldon Brown, at age 33, is one of the oldest cornerbacks in the NFL. He also has the second-longest streak (177 games) at his position in league history, but don't tell Brown that he's no longer valuable as a cornerback.

Don't dare tell Brown it's time to move from cornerback to a safety position. Not unless your name is Joe Banner, the Browns' CEO, or Tom Heckert, the general manager.

?I'll play cornerback as long as the general manager wants me to play cornerback,? Brown said. ?I take it as an insult when someone says I should move (to safety) because it hasn't been justified. If guys are running five and 10 yards past you, then it's justified. But people want to stir things up just because of the age."

Don't rush yourself Buster:wink:
BEREA, Ohio -- Cleveland Browns cornerback Joe Haden (oblique) was out on the field for practice Wednesday afternoon, but cornerback Dimitri Patterson (ankle) was not.

Coach Pat Shurmur had said both players were expected to practice today and would probably be limited. He added that he hoped both would be ready to face the Steelers, who will start their third-string quarterback Charlie Batch and play their new receiver Plaxico Burress, who was signed Tuesday.

Cornerback Buster Skrine, who suffered a concussion in Dallas "is working through the process," Shurmur said. Skrine also was not on the practice field W
The coordinators are starting to talk like their head coach:lol:
Offensive coordinator Brad Childress said Richardson "could've been a little wider" on his goal-line stop. He acknowledged that Montario Hardesty is hitting the hole faster, but that's not always the best way to attack a defense. "Both of those guys have a different pace to the hole," said Childress. "Change of pace" is good, he said.of the big-name free agents the Browns discussed.

? Jauron said his defense can't overlook Batch: "He's won a lot of games and he has a lot of experience."

? Childress said he hopes to be able to use receiver Mohamed Massaquoi (hamstring) more this week.
More or less

Hate to break it to you Sheldon... they are getting past you.

The Ward hit was clean. Like I said, its become a league where even
clean, legal hits are flagged just because they make an impact and "big hit" sound.
Refs automatically assumed its an illegal hit.

Pussification yada yada yada...

Jimmy Haslam better get his sh*t together before he makes a bigger mistake:shake:
CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Whew, good thing Jimmy Haslam is running things now.

The Browns and Ticketmaster have put their heads together -- or not -- to give fans attending Sunday's game against Pittsburgh white inflatable flags to wave.

There is an orange helmet on the flag and the name "Cleveland Browns," presumably to clear up any confusion over which side has customarily given up hope of going home with a win.

The Browns have lost 16 of 17 to the Steelers.

So this isn't the most questionable promotional idea you can imagine. Losing 17 of 17 would make it that.

Well at least the Browns did not try some of these promotions:shake:
"Pre-Planned Funeral Night" -- The Hagerstown Suns brought their fans to the ballpark thinking about their own mortality and sent one lucky? fan home with a $6,500 funeral completely paid for. A depressing time was had by all.
"Salute to Indoor Plumbing Night" -- The idea behind the West Virginia Power promotion was to shut down all the stadium rest room facilities and have fans use portable toilets so they'd go home with a better appreciation of modern conveniences. The board of health nixed it.
"Nobody Night" -- The Charleston Riverdogs locked paying customers out for the first five innings so they could make history with a game played in front of -- you guessed it -- no one. What a deal.
