Cleveland Browns (2016 thread of unrelenting dumpster conflagration)

With a franchise QB playoffs can come sooner. there isn't one in this draft or in free agency.

So the Brownies can either take a step forward, improve multiple spots, secure future picks with a trade down from your second 1st rounder then take a developmental QB low(er) or they can continue to force the issue - take a QB well above where he would normally be drafted and fail to secure what look to be great players at other positions.

I.e. almost exactly what we did in the 14'draft.

No franchise QB in sight. Improve, improve, improve all over*. Trash bag at QB. Maybe go from 1 to 4 wins next year. Improve, improve, improve some more*. Maybe get a QB in the 2018 draft and get to 6-8 wins. Then the playoffs become a reasonable goal and who knows, maybe 2019 they make it? Doubt it because it's the Browns, so yeah, 2020. It'll be worth the wait if they build it right to sustain success. So, again, not gonna happen.

*the most unlikely of things given recent history

Flacco and Eli are talented and played well when it counted. Yeah, that's better than Dilfer but that's exactly what I said. Andy Dalton never played better when it counted. If Dilfer could do it, Andy Dalton can.

AND

The Texans won their division. The one with Andrew Luck.
Great point. Andrew Luck, the highest paid QB in the league, has not proven to be an elite QB at this point. Luck throws a ton of bad passes and picks. The Colts have a rather weak defense and running game, which doesn't help.

For those of you that look at this who is coming out early next year or as a SR that looks like a franchise QB. Is there one? If you could get Kizer at the top of the 2nd that would be great but more than likely he's going top 10 unless he stinks at pro day and combine

Off the top of my head without looking in to it...

You mentioned Kizer.
Rosen from UCLA should be coming out.
Lamar Jackson will go next year.
Browning from Washington.
Darnold from USC.
Mason Rudolph from Ok St.
There is always a name that seems to come out of nowhere.

I'm not saying all of these guys are franchise QBs but these are the names that you'll most likely hear about.

Word is Rudolph is going to declare. But also josh Allen from Wyoming next year, and maybe kaaya if he stays, which he probably doesn't.

shit This organization cannot even figure out where it wants to have it is training camp and you expect these guys to draft good players.

In other news, RG III is out of concussion protocol and I am sure that the Steelers will put him right back into that same situation even without all of their starters..

Browns up 14-0 at Pittsburgh. It would be so Cleveland to win there when it is meaningless to the Steelers, and cost themselves the #1 overall pick.

Steelers came back to take a 21-14 lead with 5 minutes to go, but Crowell rips off a 67 yard run and the Browns tie it with 3:28 left.

Overtime, just what Tomlin wanted today. The funny thing is most Steelers fans will actually be upset if they lose this game, as will most Browns fans. :slappy:

Twice on 3rd down the Steelers commit a penalty to give Cleveland a first and goal in OT. They seem to be trying to give it away but will the Browns take it?
