You're right, but Erving sucks, I doubt they find a dominant C or RG, and an offense that isn't "that bad" isn't going to get anywhere with a defense of historically bad proportions. I say, address the defense and worry about the offense later.

That's pretty much what I was going for except for a little hope they can piece together an OL. I wouldn't waste high draft picks on offense, but if they can sign a FA G/C it would be worth it. They also need a fallback at RT if/when Erving fails.

Honestly the offense wouldn't be that bad if Erving could be a decent RT (questionable), they can find a dominate C or RG (depending where Greco plays), and a QB that can manage a game. WR's, RB's, and TE's are good enough. The big key will be if they can turn the sieve of a defense into a dominate unit.

Let me introduce you to my friend, Pat Elflein.

In all seriousness, we need Bito to come back healthy, find a capable center, then Pasztor to man RG MAYBE Erving can swing out to RT but I was really hoping Shon Coleman would come along in his rookie year. He was the mid round target
I like and they got him. Shocking as that may be when the Brownies finally pick a player I like. The oline needs a center and to get healthy. Commit to the running game with having two pretty decent RB's in Crow and Duke and you have now established an offensive identity. The skill spots aren't terrible. I'd like to see us kick over a couple mid to late round rocks and see what we find. Big benefit of the senior bowl. I'm also liking what I hear about OJ Howard.

As for the defense? Front to back. Give me play makers up front (Allen) then look at the secondary next. I'd even take a 2012 type unit that was middle of the pack with Jauron leading them.

A happier time for Browns fans, when Joe "Turkey" Jones gave Terry Bradshaw a pile driver to cap off a Cleveland victory. I wonder what would happen to Joe in 2017? :slappy:

 first play is a "catch" by Paul Warfield, followed by Warfield being hurt on the play, followed by teammates ripping off his helmet to see if he's alright. None of what I typed would have happened in today's game. There would be a couple commercial breaks for injury and a review to show that the pass was incomplete despite no visual evidence showing so.

I haven't thought about Jerry Sherk in a long time. He was a tough run stopper back in the day!

Old Jerry's been busy since then:

Jerry Sherk M.A., MMS President
Jerry Sherk has a masters in psychology with an emphasis in counseling, and he has almost two decades of experience being a mentoring consultant. In addition to the one-on-one model, Jerry has an expertise in group mentoring, as he created and ran group mentoring programs in the school setting for more than six years. Jerry recently co-wrote a manual for Public/Private Ventures on how to develop ex-prisoner mentoring efforts. An author or co-author of over 15 workbooks on youth and employee-to-employee mentoring, Jerry began honing his mentoring and leadership skills during a 12-year career as a player for the NFL's Cleveland Browns.

Do not know that much about him except that New England drafted him so he cannot be all that bad or can he:huh: Also, depends on what the Patriots want for him..
He played pretty well earlier this year subbing for Brady before he got banged up.

Here's the rub, though. Brady's gonna be 40, so they have to be thinking about the future of the QB position. If they're willing to let him go without getting something significant in return, do you really feel they think that highly of him? If he's any good, you'd think they'd wanna hold on to him as Brady's heir unless they can get a ridiculous return for him. Of course, they could think he isn't the answer and act like they do while demanding a king's ransom. Catch-22.

I tend to think it's a longshot he ends up in Cleveland because they'll likely want a lot...

Not really that simple. Brady is arguably still the best qb in the nfl and has no desire to retire. Jimmy Grapes has one more year on a rookie contract before he walks for a big payday. So, New England is either going to trade him this year and take whatever they can get, or watch him walk out the door next year and get nothing in return. They drafted Brisset for this very reason. So, while New England doesn't have to trade him at all, they really don't have the major leverage to try and strong arm a king's ransom.

True. I forgot he was a FA next year.
