Cleveland Browns (Finally drafting Buckeyes)

Even if the Watson stuff falls through, it seems safe to say Mayfield won't be the Browns QB in 2022. You don't court another QB this publicly and expect either side to reunite amicably for the upcoming season. The die has been cast.

They can't bring in another QB without trading Baker. He's guaranteed 18M. I don't know what other better options exist out there. I think a lot of it depends how much other teams value him. I can see the Texans wanting to kick the tires on a local kid same as I wish the Browns had done what the Steelers are doing with Trubisky and Haskins.

There's a completely different level of "oh shit I got this wrong, we have to cut him" risk.

Not only are 3 draft picks gone... If you'd like to see some cap/dead cap numbers:

Much different than a cheap prove you can behave yourself deal followed by a pretty modest extension.

I was more referring to the this team being more than happy to employ sketchy dudes. It's the way of the NFL. I've seen plenty of people against Watson for that reason. Which is fine. I agree. But the team clearly doesn't care (McDowell, Hunt).

Honestly it just feels like the locker room is going to be a strange place with or without Watson at this point.

(I'm not a Watson guy)

At this point, if Mayfield is not included as part of the trade, the Texans can kick rocks. IF Watson didn't have the character, civil, and legal issues, I would be more receptive, but I would not get into a bidding war with the questions about him. Let the Panthers and Saints fight it out. The Browns need to do their due diligence, trade Mayfield for the best deal they can get, continue adding key pieces and the best QB they can land. But Mayfield has to be included or no deal.

Sounds like Indy would be 3rd team involved to take Baker and add an extra 1st round pick back to Houston. Browns send ‘22 and 23 and get Deshaun.

Gonna be gross when the civil suit details come out.

IF this all went down. Who knows. All rumors at this point.

Chasing and apparently willing to give up a king’s ransom for a qb with 20-something (TWENTY SOMETHING) civil suits against him for sexual misconduct. I’d say this is surreal, but it”s the Clowns. 12 months ago, people were talking SuperBowl ( :slappy: ) with this team, now they’ve gone the nuclear option. They better hope they get him, he stays out of trouble, because they just self-immolated if not.

I’ve been saying a since the word of his shoulder issues came up, Mayfield was good enough to get you to the playoffs and even win a playoff game. He’s been the best QB they’ve had in their 23 miserable seasons by A LOT. If he’s healthy next year, a rebound is well within reason. Now, you basically told him to piss off for a (alleged) creep that you’re gonna be bidding against other teams and have to hope you can convince to waive his no trade to join your punch line franchise.

I know I’m in the minority of people that think Mayfield is good for them and that’s okay. I can see both views. I choose this side because he’s shown he can play at a pretty high level and has taken you further than anyone else has. The grass isn’t always greener, especially when your track record is napalm. As I always say…Clowns gonna Clown.
