Cleveland Indians (2019 Thread of Indifference)

e!spn did a piece on remaining FAs and predicted where they'll sign. Came across this:

He'll be 34 in August and isn't near the player he once was offensively or defensively, but if he can be had at a reasonable price, he could be a useful piece. That said, he made $17M last year, so how much of a paycut is he willing to take?

I'm a little surprised/disappointed the Orioles haven't brought him back already.

No, the Orioles aren't going to be any good and on the field that move isn't going to make them any better. But right now the veteran in the clubhouse is Chris Fucking Davis when it should be Adam Jones. Jones bought Cal Ripken's mansion, loves the Baltimore area and when he retires is going to live there and has said as much. Unless the Indians are going to plug him into left field or get him for the clubhouse presence, I don't see it.

The season is already off to a roaring start!

*insert James Van Der Beek crying gif here*

Lindor creates quite the quandary for me, fan-wise. He's an incredible player with an infectious attitude and by all accounts a great kid. He should be the kind of player a Tribe fan is crazy about. But, I've become so jaded by these kids growing in our organization, then bailing when the Tribe can't afford to pay them that i find myself unable to really get behind him too much. There is 0.0 chance he's here beyond 2021, as made abundantly clear when he turned down a lucrative extension last year. He'll have, at most, 3 more seasons here then go play out the rest of his prime in NY, Boston or LA. Hard to grow attached when you know that's coming, and honestly I'd be behind dealing him at some point this year or next to maximize the return.
