Coaching changes: coaches hired and fired, comings and goings

Good luck standing up and hugging a 6'5" 240lb QB to the ground. It doesn't work that way.
I go with Kahil Mack a great pass rusher.Strip than hug and hold stop forward progress. If the QB hits the ground odds are in favor of a penalty. It sucks and it’s only getting worse if you fall on them now it’s a penalty..if helmet bounces of turf it’s a penalty. The NFL calls it more college to follow. CTE is a lawsuit nightmare coming for Colleges.

It is, and on dry pavement, some of the most beautiful driving I've done in ages.

That said, took the kids skiing up there one day. Wasn't 45 minutes there before someone stole one of the kids poles.

My only regret of my stay is that I didn't have time to get at Appy State Football T-shirt.

Cruise out to Deals Gap and drive the Tail of the Dragon. 300+ turns in 11 miles. It's the best road in America.

what midwest town is the most middle of nowhere geographically?
I've seen a couple of mentions of Ames, Iowa - that was my first thought.

Manhattan, Kansas is another, they call themselves the Little Apple but I don't think NYC is worried.

I don't consider PA to be in the Midwest.

That would be me. Boone is nice, but please don't come here; we're already full. I worked at AppState for 28 years until I retired in 2016.

Lots of nice stuff here. Mountains and all that comes with them. Four beautiful seasons. Mr Roosevelt's (Blue Ridge) Parkway 1/4 mile from my house. Amenities that come with a university town. Plus, no poisonous snakes; few flies, mosquitoes, or ticks. No tornadoes, only minor earthquakes, only occasionally the remnants of a hurricane. All in all, a good place to ride out global warming.

But still, lots of crap, too. University has outgrown the town; from 8,000 when I got here (1988) to 20,000 today (2007 had more than a little to do with that). Student housing complexes going up everywhere; no more room for roads (the valleys are full). As a regional comprehensive, App State used to be better quality than its reputation. Now, as growth is prioritized, quality is declining and the school is living off its reputation.

Seriously, anyone who wants to come for a visit, look me up.

Do they really believe that top notch elite coaches are knocking the door down to get into Starkville?

Leach is probably about as good as they could hope for. His system is generally good for 6-8 wins a year with minimal talent, with some potential for a 10 win breakout season here and there. Sounds about par for the course for Miss State football the last decade
Yeah, but at least now that he's in the SEC those 4-6 losses every year will be just as good as wins!
