That’s not how math works. You have to add both groups, which means 62% to 129% of hospitalizations are over age 65.
LOL... so we’re gonna have 129% of folks over 65 in the hospital right? its % of each population in each age bracket....

lets just say there’s still plenty of room for everyone under 65 to swamp the hospital system and older folks and even younger folks to die from other things

That article seems to be clearly mis-representing the data they're linking. The CDC estimates that up to 70% of the people over 85 that have contracted the virus have required hospitalization. That doesn't mean they total 70% of all hospitalizations. There's a graph that shows hospitalizations by age group and that bar under the >85 is clearly not 70% of the total. Am I missing something here?

Love all my friends falling for every story that starts with "My friend's brother works in the National Guard" or of course "My sister's friend is a Dr..."

And now old videos of humvees being transported by rail (crazy, I know, trains transporting things?!). People are losing their minds and it's only like Day 4 since a lot of cities went to closing a few non-essential things down. Misinformation and havoc everywhere.

This will be fun.

I found their estimates to be.... Imprecise.

Anyone else see this?

http://www.centerforhealthsecurity.org/event201/index.html

The Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security in partnership with the World Economic Forum and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation hosted Event 201, a high-level pandemic exercise on October 18, 2019, in New York, NY. The exercise illustrated areas where public/private partnerships will be necessary during the response to a severe pandemic in order to diminish large-scale economic and societal consequences.

Major misunderstanding out there about chloroquine... the malaria drug

a Dr can script it for ANY use they deem. Does not have to be for indication FDA approved it under. This drug was presented to FDA for malaria some 40 yrs ago. It is heavily scripted for a whole host of other indications within rheumatology realm. Lupus And arthritis especially. in fact they don’t know WHY it works there but it does and that is why it is prescribed so often for non-malaria indications
