Dayton Flyers (Official Thread)

Not going to happen,IMO. I like the Flyers, but WVU is a darn good team-much better than FSU,Illinois, or Purdue. UD is hurting for backcourt depth w/ Lowry and Thomas hurt-although Thomas might be back, and WVU is just more experienced and better shooters.

I didn't say I thought Dayton would beat WVU. I said I would love to see it. Obviously, UD is the underdog.

I think Dayton got screwed--they deserved to get a better seed than #11, and they're playing the toughest #6 seed, IMO. WVU will be a very tough opponent.

The same thing happend back in 2004. We were a 4 seed and played Tulsa who was a 13 but prolly shoulda been a 10 or so.

Tulsa had 3 guys injured early in the season which hurt their record but they were all back towards the end and had won like 10 games in a row or something.

I'll never forgive that douchebag ref for calling offensive goaltending on a tip slam by Finn that woulda tied the game....

I think that UD was seeded just about right. With the injury to Lowery and then other injuries along the way, they just weren't playing well down the stretch. I was so pissed that I had to turn the Duquesne game off about half way through the second half. I haven't seen much to be optimistic about the Flyers since they beat Xavier, and Lowery went down.

I think that Xavier is playing like crap recently too, and they'll be lucky to get past the Wisconsin-FSU winner. I don't know anything about Portland State, but it wouldn't surprise me if no A-10 teams made it out of the first round.

that Duquesne game was frustrating as hell. We just beat those guys last week by 13 (and we were up by 23 with 3 mins to go). I just don't understand how you can have Chris Wright at 6' 8" and he gets the ball in the post 1 time in the paint (when the game was still in doubt).

He isn't that great of a ballhandler or shooter....so why do we have him on the wing, slashing to the hoop, and picking up offensive fouls constantly. Park him in the paint, crash the boards, and learn a freaking jump hook. And if you are going to play him on the wing....teach him a pull up jumper from about 6 feet.

Good season. Kansas was just too tough and they ran out of gas. Dayton never shot that well all year, but that defense was amazing and they played their hearts out. Looking forward to next year...hopefully an A10 championship is in the future.

Big hoops day for me today. UD vs. GA tech and OSU vs. UNC tonight.

The Flyers already knocked off 19th rankd Georgia Tech by 4 points in the Puerto Rico Tourney.

down 7 with 5 minutes to go the Flyers battled back for a 4 point win. Paul Williams scored 7 points in the final minute of the game including a clutch 3 to take the lead.

Big nuts for PW knocking down all 4 FT's to ice it... 13-2 run over the final 3 1/2 for the Flyers...

Chris Johnson, Paul Williams, and Luke Fabrizius were the offense today... Chris Wright only had 7 and Marcus Johnson didn't score...

I noticed that UD scored 90 in the win vs. Creighton. After the beating that they gave UD at the beginning of the season last year, I was happy to see that.

I haven't had a chance to see them play, and I've never followed UD recruiting. Do they have anyone that can shoot the ball this season? That was one of the most frustrating things last season. They were fun to watch, because they played with so much energy, but they couldn't hit the broad side of a barn.

Pretty much the same team as last year... Lost Charles Little added two posts in Josh Benson (redshirt) and Matt Kavanaugh...

Looks like (so far this year) that Paul Williams, Chris Johnson, and Fabrizius have all worked on their jumpers... So they should be improved ultimately. But this team will still do it with defense... Wouldn't expect too many 90 point performances this year...
